For the past couple of days my car has been smoking out of the exhaust..

It smokes a lot for the first 10 mins after i start it up in the morning regardless of the temperature outside.

Then after i drive it a little without boost it doesnt smoke at all. I did notice though everytime i shift after heavy boosting, there is a shit load of smoke that comes out of my exhaust, just right after i shift.

If i drive it without boost there is no smoke what so ever. I also noticed my turbo doesnt spool like it did before. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt.

Yesterday i was doing a 3rd gear pull and the boost went upto 11 then stopped for a few seconds and maybe like 3 seconds later went upto 13-14.

Also im not burning any coolant and my car's not over heating at all. There is however a lot of oil in my IC pipes?

Thanx for the help, sorry for the long post.

All the signs of a failing turbo. Check for shaft play to be sure, then start figuring out what you want to replace it with. If this is your daily driver or only source of transportation, I would try to drive it as little as possible until you can get the turbo replaced.

To check for shaft play, pull off the intake hose/pipe and try to wiggle the compressor wheel up and down, side to side and in and out. A little side to side movement is okay, but you'll feel it if it's wiggling too much. If the compressor blades are hitting the side of the compressor housing, that's not a good thing. If the compressor wheel moves in and out at all, that's not a good thing either.

I would agree. Don't drive on it until you figure out the problem. When my T-25 took a crap it spit out gound up bearing into my oil pan most likely causing the failure of my 7-bolt.

You can also check for oil in your compressor outlet and LICP. Clean out any oil that's in the outlet or LICP inlet, remove your breather hose from your intake, cap the breather nipple on the intake pipe and do a run hitting full boost for a couple of seconds. Reinspect for new oil. If you find it, your seals are leaking, and your turbo's on its way out.

When my T25 died (shaft broke), I got more than a quart of oil in my IC, and plenty of it made its way into the cylinders. My trust bearing was in pieces in my oil pan as BlackGSX2g experienced, but I had parked it right after the turbo went, so it didn't have a chance to do any more damage. I pulled the pan off for other reasons and found the bearing chunks. You may not have a need to drop your pan (kind of a pain in the ass, especially on an AWD), so you may not even know if there's debris in there if your turbo destructs. Play it safe, park it, and replace/rebuild your turbo now.

aite so my cars parked and i havent had time to do anything yet..

But i was just wondering. if a boost leak will make the car smoke like that?

It only smokes after i boost and shift. Doesnt smoke whille im accelrating or decelerating.

Smokes at idle, if i leave it idling for a long time..

I dont think it could bemy piston rings since the block only has 8K miles on it.

Oh, and when its like 90 degrees out.. the turbo tends to not boost at all.. however when its cold at nite.. It spools but not as loud as it used to be.

I did buy a 14B just incase.. but wanna make sure its my turbo b4 i buy a install kit.

Ima check for shaft play again today.

You are explaining exactly what happened to my car when the t25 grenaded. except i also had a shrill whine also. that is why my car has been sitting for the last 4 months and why it now has a 16g. if you got oil in the ic pipes i'd say thats a good give away. is the back of your car coated in oil? mine was getting bad enough that if i washed my car, and then took her out for a spin there where little tiny oil spost all over the back of the car, since the exhaust was spewing out smoke and unburnt oil. Also check for visible damage on the fins, mine were all bent, and discolored from heat (friction on the housing i'm guessing), luckily i just parked it and did not drive it till something broke and made it into the engine. Hope this helps, good luck!:dsm:
