Smoke coming for dash

I don't know were I'd put this.

Was driving around and than smoke started coming from my dash on the driver side. I pulled over and tried to find where it was coming from. Only thing I could find made no sense. The spring to pull the clutch cable up was very hot and I think the smoke was coming from the rubber tube around it. Not sure.

What could cause this. Have no idea.

Sounds like a wire began to cook its insulation. Not good. previous owner mess with the wiring? Install something without a fuse?

I'd check to make sure a power wire/connection didn't come loose and come in contact with it while driving.

Sounds like a wire was touching the spring, it wore through the insulation, and the wire shorted out to the spring.

Yeah smelled like something was burning. I looked and nothing was touching the spring. No loss wires and none of the harnesses were hot.

I have figured it out after hours or searching for the problem.

When I clutch, my clutch pedal was hitting a power wire. It had finally rubbed off the insulation and exposed the wire. So when I clutched the pedal had power running to it and the spring was the only ground and it was acting like a heating coil I guess. The rubber tube around the spring is what was smoking.

My luck to have a weird freak problem.
