Small winter build thoughts

20g choke flow is about 4lbs higher than evo 16g. 20g wheel is 71 grams vs. the evo at 57-61grams. 16g spools about 600rpm slower than 14b 20g about 1000rpm slower.

on an average setup the 16g will be far more fun. it is far less fussy about having an imperfect setup. the 20g kicks ass when setup corrrectly. pulls hard to redline where the 16g goes flat at 6500rpm.

Got my 16g down firing compressor.

Would FIC 1050's be too over kill? Theres some in the classified section for pretty cheap. I have ecmlink but I feel that, that large of an injector isnt necessary. Otherwise I see some fic 850s for sale too.

Also been considering some 264 cams. I know I dont need, but I think they would be a nice upgrade. If I get cams I should be getting adjustable cam gears also to get the most of out them, right?

Interesting compressor cover man ! Looks pretty cool, non stock appearing anymore LOL
Get the 1050's, You can dial them in with ecmlink with more room for the future...Im running out of fuel with 850s almost already.
Why not go with 272 instead or 264/272 combo for quicker spool but more top end

Ive heard people say you loose alot of low end with the 272s. And Id like to keep as much low end, as quickly spooling setup as I can.

Yea you can use the 264 as exhaust cam to keep spool quick and go 272 on intake...Its up to you depending on future goals as well. Bigger turbo, int.manifold etc. Or you just go straight 264s

Well if you want to upgrade to a bigger turbo and more power grab bigger than the 850 if you have link, ill be grabbing bigger ones fic 1120cc so I can run e 85 in the near future. OF course another build in the making a new bottom end, and some 272 cams. My long term goals have changed over the years so ill be needing more fuel, but if your staying on that turbo the 850cc will be a great match.

Low end wont suffer that bad with normal 272s. Kelfords....that may be a different story. Some Crower,HKS, whatever ffwd's regrinds are, all of those would be great. Make sure to degree them. Though i have read repeatedly that HKS are truly drop in and go cams.

btw, love the comp cover, belled out and everything. Looks great.

Turbo turned out great thanks to Justin!

Well just bought an rvr/evo3 intake manifold. Need a set of cams that will work good with everything, what do you guys think?

Yea I just cant decide what cams, haha so many choices!

I don't want regrinds. Not a fan of them.

Turbo turned out great thanks to Justin!

You want an HKS 264 or 272 though? Just curious as to what you think the major difference is between an HKS 272 and a DKS? From what I've looked up it seems the point was to have the same specs, just no brand name price.

I dont want to have to screw around with shims and stuff.

Really been considering fp2's, thoughts?

Ended up finding an evo 3 intake manifold. Also went with some fp2 cams. I have everything pretty much ordered except my speed density stuff and some odds and ends. Also replacing my prosport gauges with aem.

I have bc 272's. they work well if you want to run a small turbo and want good low end, fast spool up, while still making some power up to 7.5k or so.

I think the fp2s should work well for me

Since I'll be switching intake manifolds, thoughts on the heat barrier gaskets? The evo3 manifold doesn't have egr provision, so I will also be plugging the port in the head.

Yea I got some aem cam gears too so they should work great.

Also got BC springs and retainers and 3g lifters so the head should be good to go.

Really debating on removing the A/C and evap stuff. A/C isn't very cold, I could recharge it but I never use it. Even in 90* summer days I like driving the car with the windows down. Plus my daily driver has ice cold air. Just mainly concerned about defogging the windows without the a/c.

Also since the evo 3 manifold has no egr that will also be removed. (Car has an egr code anyways, that was turned off with ecmlink) I was also debating getting rid of the evap stuff to clean up the bay a little. I do still have to pass emissions(obd-II scan). But I did pass last time without a cat or rear o2 sensor on the car. ;) So maybe I can figure out a way to get it to pass again.
