So todayy i was warming up my car and i popped the hood to check some levels and i knoticed a small crack in my stock manifold. its not affecting it knoticably but im sure it needs to be replaced. now im not sure how far down the road its going to take me to turbo so what would be a good alernative untill the turbo?

He was wondering if you were talking about the intake mani or exhaust. Duh you have both. Crack will eventually just get worse with heat cycles. You can always weld it up or get a replacment for 50 bucks or so. As of right now its not hurting much

^ beat me to it damn

welllll as you can see i am realativly new. -_- but i caught on really quick haha, and its the exhaust one. my fault guys im still new, so new i still dont know how to get a picture as my icon -_-

For now I would just get an oe replacement manifold. I'm sure you probably have cracks underneath it and inside it where it meets the turbo too just because of the extreme temperatures it sees. So just a standard cast manifold would be fine for now, you can get fancy later if you really want to.

Dont get a replacement get a aftermarket one. They are much cheaper and will give you that extra horsepower you want(if you want any). Also a free flowing exhaust will get you better gas mileage. Just be warned if you get a ebay one or megan racing header, you need someone to weld the header to the downpipe otherwise it will leak. And muffler sealer doesnt work for somereason on mine, maybe cause its stainless?

Hahahahhaaha rofl!!! Thanks for that post, made my day LOL!

OP, if you are going to get an aftermarket later why bye it twice? Research your goals and get what you want for your build.

y not just get the best of both worlds, and go with a forced performance manifold. I got mine because its cheap compared to most, and is rated for hp well within my goals. Its cast, and def heavier than the pos ebay one that came on my car when i bought it, but i bet ill never have to replace it due to cracks. Just to relieve the confusion, your name is esi, your car is tsi, and u say your gonna turbo later, i thought all tsi's were turboed.

This is awful advice, First off the original poster has a tsi, the manifold should NEVER touch the downpipe. The turbo and o2 housing go between those items. ALSO, a cheap tubular header is an awful choice on a daily driver. None of them fit right, most require a spacer, the flanges are always warped, they throw your oil return and oil supply locations out of place so the lines don't fit properly, and lastly they will cause you to bake everything in the front of your engine bay because they don't hold the heat in like the manifold. You can buy a replacement cast manifold with a heat shield from rockauto.com for like 80 bucks that bolt's on with no other modifications.
