small 16g with 20g upgraded wheel?

anyone know where i can find a 20g wheel that will fit a small 16g housing? i wont 20g blades/inducer but small 16g exducer that'll fit in the compressor housing without machining or buying new housing

Well a 20g wheel is a larger diameter wheel, so you will have to machine the housing, or buy a 20g housing.

What you're asking for is not possible. A 20G wheel is too big to fit in the 16G compressor housing. If you make the 20G wheel smaller to fit a 16G compressor housing, it won't be a 20G compressor wheel.

But, if I remember correctly, the back of a small 16G wheel is flat, whereas the back of the big 16g, Evo 3 16g, and 20g wheels have a rounded convex surface on the back. So the CHRA would have to be machined as well, I think... Or you may need to use a different thrust plate. Can't remember.

Aside from that, you will have to use a compressor housing that has been machined for the bigger compressor wheel. There is no way around it.

I have an evo3 16g with 20g wheel and brand new internals. Only way to make the bigger 20g wheel fit in the 16g compressor housing is to machine the housing to fit the larger wheel.

Small 16gs are superback wheels like the big 16s and 20s. The CHRA needs to be machined to match the exducer(the lip around the oil shield), and a 20g cover off of eBay, or machining out the small 16g compressor housing will be needed. The oil shield/thrust collar on the small 16 chra is the superback style, so no machining is necessary for that.

The small 16g has the superback wheel like the big/evo 16g and 20g. Even if it had the flat back like a 14b, the center housing would still work (it's the thrust plate that's different as you indicated), however it would still need to be machined anyway because the exducer of small 16g is smaller than the 20g.

You remembered INcorrectly.

A Small 16G has a 60mm exducer while the Big 16G and larger use a 68mm exducer.

The small 16g has the superback wheel like the big/evo 16g and 20g. Even if it had the flat back like a 14b, the center housing would still work (it's the thrust plate that's different as you indicated), however it would still need to be machined anyway because the exducer of small 16g is smaller than the 20g.

Still wrong.

All TD05H thrust plates are the same- the compressor seal collar and seal plate are what's different between the flat-back and super-back wheels.
