I bought a AWD talon that has a small 16g on it which the take off is slow and dose'nt hit 20 psi till 2nd gear but while in first it dosent take off as fast as a AWD should.
I also have a 97 gst it has a big 28 in it and it seems to have faster take off so should i put the big 28 in my awd to make it go faster? Also the AWD i think has a stock clutch could that be the problem for loss in take off speed?

and if i swap the tubro's the AWD has DSM link will i have to change the settings on DSM link cause im a noob to it and have not much of a clue on howto use it begin i just bought the car with it.

Ok will do a boost leak test first and go from there. I was planing on getting a new clutch like a act 2600 or something of the nature.

And the small 16g should do quick launchs in a AWD better the the big28t

A exhaust leak before the turbo will kill your spool as well. Something isn't right if your 16g isn't hitting 20psi until 2nd gear. I can hit 20psi by 5k rpm on my big turbo.

Your s16g should be building boost a lot faster than that. Besides what's already been mentioned I would check it for shaft play and make sure that your wg is staying closed. The t28 and the s16g have pretty similar spool and flow characteristics but I think set up correctly the t28 should spool slightly (very slightly) faster than the s16g while the s16g should flow just a tiny bit more at the top end. Overall though they should feel pretty similar.

You've already done maintenace on the car to rule out anything else right??? (spark plugs, fuel pump, wires, etc)

I just got the car but it was said to had new NGK plugs and wires and a New Wally 190 Fuel pump

I have to clarify.
When you say "take off", do you mean when you take off from a stop light kind of take off, or do you mean "launch", as in letting the clutch out at 5000rpm+, when you say it?

I ask because while you may have boost leaks and tuning issues(it sounds like you do), that may not really be what you're asking about. If you simply mean that the BigT28 GST is faster off the line than the s16g GSX is under normal driving circumstances (read: not racing conditions) then that would be perfectly normal and expected.

The AWD DSM's suffer something in the neighborhood of 30% drivetrain loss compared to a roughly 15% loss in the FWD models. That, coupled with the extra couple hundred pounds that the AWD models weigh explains the difference in driving behavior.

First thing I would do AFTER you do all of your maintenance is: compression test and a boost leak test. Post your results.....
