small 16g shaft questions

My turbo recently started blowing oil. I purchased an ebay rebuild kit which was designed for the 16g. When i got everything apart snd when to go put the bearings on, they did not fit. They were way too big. I have read that i need to bhy a 14b rebuild kit for my small 16g. Could someone inform me on what I am missing out on with this shaft? I thought the big and small 16gs were the same besides their compressor wheels.

You bought a rebuild kit for a ebay/chinese 16g. They come with a larger turbine shaft then its MHI counterpart. You need the standard 16g rebuild kit which is usually cost a little more money.

do thr small and big 16g have the same shaft size? if so do you know the size? I had a feeling the kit was for ebay turbos

Yes they are. I think the only difference in the two is the turbine size

Both 14B and 16G has the same turbine axle and wheel TD05H.
CHRA and compressor wheel/housing are different.

You need this rebuild kit Tradergreg and maybe use the search fonction here on Tuners

i know. I read your writr up(i think it was yours) and figured it was a good idea to get an ebay kit. I did not know they started making rebuild kits for the big shaft ebay turbos.

Justin, would you know if a 10mm (.393 inch) is an ebay turbo shaft or the mhi turbos.
