Now i will admit i don't really know a lot about when it comes to internal engine work but i have the engine out going to the shop tomm. i think i spun a bearing so i was thinking about getting the kit. .I am also getting a evo3 16 g and i already have a tre tranny. I guess what my real question is what else do i have to change if i got this kit? I have no logger for my 1g but i'll get it in time. All i am looking for is 350whp is this over kill? SKU SBR-2700 That's Slowboy's sku number for the kit

I was planning on doing something very similar however the budget came up short and my transmission won't handle much more. An Evo316g on a 2.3 will experiance some choke at the top of the rpm range. (6k and higher) You will however have insanely fast spool up and low end torque. If all your looking for is 350whp then a well built 2.0 with 8.8:1 pistons a good ported/polished head, cams, and all other supporting mods such as exhaust and fuel system upgrades, intercooler and such. An safc can get you to this point but for the long haul I would recommend dsmlink. With the money your saving from not purchasing a stroker kit it can go towards dsmlink. That is also figuring you would use an evo3 16g. If you do decide a stroker motor will still need all other supporting mods but I would suggest a larger turbo such as 18g/ 20g/ 50 trim/ or *Holset*. I have the emphasis on the holset because of cost/ durability/ streetability and the fact that there downright potent for making power and can suport from 350whp on up to in excess of 600 with the right set up.

I has been tested tried and true that a 1g big rod/ 2g piston .20 over motor can support 450whp and that isn't bad considering its all "stock" equipment. You have a couple ways you can build the motor.

I was thinking about getting this 2.3 SBR kit too.
Is it even worth it? My goals are a 11/12 sec car. It would be awesome to say you have a 2.3l 4g63

If you want it just to say that you have a stroker, don't get it. The entire point of a stroker is to have more low end and extra displacement to spool a turbo on the street. In the end you give up the ability to rev as high as a 2.0. If you look at the faster drag cars, most of them run 2.0l, though certainly not all. Do a search for strokers vs 2.0s, this topic has literally been beaten to death, brought back to life, and beaten to death again.

I want to have a lil something under the hood i just thought while it's out and i need a crank. So i just thought why not stroke it? But your saying no way a evo3 could handle it? I mean in no way will i be mad if i put out over 350whp i want to be a DD you know?

Oh no I was merely saying be sure that it fits your goals before you invest in it, rather than getting it merely for the sake of saying "I have a stroker". With a 16g and a stroker you will have a pretty nice tq curve and great spool, but I would personally think you wouldn't want to run it over 6500 rpm if for no other reason than you probably wouldn't be making any power over that. On our 2.0/E316G setup we made peak power I want to say just before 6k, but the 2.5inch exhaust and stock intake mani probably had something to do with where the torque and power curves fell. If you want a fun street car with a gutsy low end and midrange, then this setup fits the bill perfectly, just realize that you sacrifice the ability to rev high.

Go to youtube and type in "TommyDSM". He happens to be a member on here that with his old 1g which my friend currently owns ran a 12.5 with a SMALL 16g on a stock 6 bolt block. The record for an evo 3 sits at around 11.3 on this site if I'm not mistaken. A 16g with a well built and supported 2.0 will get you more then what you want. You can easily rev a stroker above 6500 or else companies like AMS wouldn't run them as much as they do. It better be built to rev that high and it better make powerat those rpms. Why spin a motor to 7500 if it stops making power at 6200? You would just be wasting the motor. If your power goals get higher (450+) and you want to play on the street with something other then a "stock" looking turbo then a stroker with the right combination of supporting mods and a "large" turbo like a 35r would be an interesting set up. ALthough theres nothing wrong with a 2.0 making 450+ turbo lag becomes apparent where the stroker motor spools about 500rpm faster and has more bottom end torque to help get things going.

I didn't mean it like that. I'd rather have it for something different and to have something that spools a 50 trim pretty quick. Which that's my goal...I still have a lot more reading on stokers to make my decision. I try not to just jump onto one idea and go through with it, I like to read about it first and then decide.
I found this link on here in a different forum.
Should help everyone.

Slowboy racing is a great company that has been doing this for years. They offer amazing prices for what you are getting. A performance block built to the standard that slowboy's are should be going for alot more look at any other platform besides dsm. You are getting a reliable well built block for a great price, whats to think about? thats my .02

I was thinking about getting this 2.3 SBR kit too.

we could put together a really nice 2.0! Even have some on the shelf ready to ship!!!!

I'd love to buy a whole new motor right now... but I'm broke and still need a new tranny. Above, is my plans for the future whenever my motor decides to give out, which should be soon...
I'll let you guys know though.

OP:
I see too many cars with the e316g. I have NO problem with them, its just that I'd like to try something else. So even though it's going to be awhile it's come down to the BW 50 trim or a Hx35.

Yep guys i did a lot of reading and like always you guys are right 2.0 is the way for me i think thank guys
