Hi, As some of you may allready know, I have a 1992 Eagle Talon TSI... Turbo/AWD... 5-speed.... it's a nice car, but it has a few problems... Maybe you can help with one of them.... when going slow and turning right (So far only happened when turning right)... the left rear wheel locks up... kinda a dangerous situation if you are going fast and it happens.... I checked the rearend fluid, and it is full... there is no weird sounds coming from it when you jack up the rear of the car and spin the wheels either.... both wheels turn the same way.... everything works good... I don't understand.... has anyone else had this problem with their awd car??? if you have, or you know what is wrong, PLEASE HELP!!! this car is meant to be my everyday driver, and with it being down, I am forced into driving my gas guzzler...

Thanks!!! :talon:

anybody????? This has to have happened to someone before.... also... If I was to take the rear diff cover off, how do I do this??? Mine has a V-Shaped brace bolted through the rear cover.... PLEASE HELP ASAP!!! I REALLY want to drive this car.... I have driven it allready... just to test the speed, and when I went to slow down, and turn right, the rear locked up twice.... sucks....  :talon:

Hi,

Are you sure the left rear wheel doesn't also lock up when making left turns? If it does, it sounds like you have a broken center diff.

Does the car make any grinding or crunching sounds?

To remove the rear diff cover you need to support the diff with a jack or something and remove the V brace.

BTW, Sshhhh!

could it possibly be the transfer case??? I have read that the transfer case could do the same thing, it would just lock up the tires whenever it wanted... and when I turn the wheels (On jackstands), you can hear some grinding coming from the transfer case.... is it possible that it could be the transfer case instead of the rear??? if so, (If I am not mistaken) wern't the transfer cases recalled for 90-94 cars??? which means the dealer has to fix it???? I probabaly couldn't be that lucky... LOL....

I don't think it's the transfer case. When the Tcase locks up, all 4 wheels lock up at the same time, and it could happen even when going straight.

The center diff is inside the tranny not too far away from the T case, so if you hear noises in that area it could be coming from the center diff.

When you turned the wheels with the car up on jackstands, how hard was it to turn the wheels? Did the resistance change as the wheel went around?

it kinda felt normal.... nothing really catching or anything.... feels the same all the way around..... this is why it puzzles me so much.... this really sucks because I have good plans for this car... and I can't do anything to it untill I get it driveable.... only thing I can think of is find somebody that knows about rearends on these cars, (Rare to find)... and have them tear everything apart, and fix it, and pay them whatever they want.... don't really wanna do that though... LOL.... :talon:
