It seems i have a small oil leak, it drips about 3 drops of oil over night when i park it in my garage. It seems to be dripping from near the drivers side of the engine, i cant really tell(not very knowledgable). I took it to see if it would be an easy fix, actually my father did and they said it woud be a hard fix as its hard to get to. Any thoughts at this point?
my next point is, I was just reading about the transfer case recall... Now i know really nothing about transfer cases, but i have a humming noise when i am driving my car coming from the drivers side tire or in that area. Do these two issues have anything in common or anybody have any idea of what it could be?

It's a mitsubishi, i've yet to see one that don't leak LOL LOL you're lucky for only 3 drops.. I can rebuild my engine, no leaks from it and something else will leak just because....because it's a mitsubishi LOL

sorry, but i would check around the sending units for the oil pressure sensors, they are on the same thing as the oil filter

Oil leaks from that area:
-front main seal
-oil return line
-valve cover

And i haven't the slightest on your humming, sorry. I would see if it does it in gear or out of gear as well. If it doesn't do it when it's out of gear it may be a transmission issue.

It's going to be difficult for us to diagnose an oil leak for you over the internet.
If you could, tonight get yourself a large enough piece of cardboard and place it under then car and leave it overnight. Label and post the picture of the cardboard so we can see exactly where it's coming from. (Label it L/R for the engine ect...) From there, we can decide what leaks from that position, and go from there.

If you want to diagnosis an oil leak, there are two basic ways you can do so.

1) Get yourself a bottle of leak detector and follow the directions. Basically, you need to add this to your engine oil, and drive normally for a couple days. Then you can use ultra-violet light to see where your seepage is coming from. Here is a link for the product, you can call Napa, they should be able to supply it. Unless you are unfortunate like me, they only sell it in bulk where I'm at.

Leak Detector Kit / Engine Block, Test Tools Inc.; Bottle Of Leak Test Fluid

2) The second way you can do this (which I prefer) is to get some good engine degreaser or "Pink Stuff" and clean the engine block up underneath. Be sure to get all the areas where there is a suspected leak. Get the car on a lift, wipe it all down good and dry. From there you can start the car, and have a bright flashlight and look around for your seepage.

You can try either one of those methods, and you'll find your leak. Once we do, we can go about fixing it and saving you some big buck. Good luck man, let us know if you have any questions.

We had a persistent oil leak coming from the timing area of the engine. Porting the oil pressure relief valve definitely helped this issue. Do you have a balance shaft elimination? The elimination causes higher than stock oil pressure, which can contribute to leaks. Porting the oil relief isn't the easiest thing in the world, so I would definitely check all of the previously mentioned spots, but if you check all of those spots and it still leaks then read this, it might help:

The oil return line is on the drivers side and mine manages to drop a spot or two from the line every now and then. I'd check that first seeing how it may be the easiest fix. I tightened mine and now it leeks a drop once a month

I had a small oil leak coming from my oil filter once. As for the humming Coming from your wheel, could be a wheel bearing?
