Sitting car

Hey guys, just to start off I'm no mechanic. I purchased a newer car 3 months ago and have been neglecting the eclipse gst (1996). I start it once in a while, but since I bought my other car, have driven this car at all... Today turned the car on, and put the emergency brake down, but the brake light on the dash was still lit... also the battery light is on too. (the batter y was just replace 5 months ago, started with no problems). Is there anything specific to check before driving a car that's been sitting for 3 months? Also, I can't find the factory manual, so I really don't know what those lights mean... thanks in advance!

Sounds like a dieing/died alternator or bad charging circuit. Inspect the main fuses and replace as needed. Make sure the accessory belt is intact. Have the alternator checked out if all of the fuses look good and the belt is still intact.
