ok heres the deal, im about to buy this gst from this guy. he said that it has a blown head gasket and theres colant in the cylinders(because of the blown head gasket) anyway he said that it has been sitting for like 6 months... is there anyway i could jus drain all the fluids out and replace the head gasket... or should i just get a new motor for this thing. i dont think i have time to rebuild one with school and work... oh ya he said that when he tried to start it, it blew flames out of the throutle body?? (he didnt have the intercooler piping hooked up) any help would be great thanks.

flames just sound like a backfire due to timing. i've done that before on my supra. as for the cylinders with coolant, just drain it put mls and arp's and go. if it looks bad take the head in to get milled and you will for sure have no problems.

My biggest concern is could he have hydrolocked the thing. If you plan on reusing the engine, either pull the oil pan and look up at the rods (kind of hard to do) or with the head off, turn the crank and make sure the pistons that move together measure the same distance to the top of the block at top dead center.

If I were you I would rebuild or change it! The rings get bad if coolent gets into them it seizes the engine if its not fixed. It's not going to be cheap so go jdm. I would consider the opportunity to put some goodies down there like a rotating assembly ### a new motor is going to be as much as the rotating assembly!.:sneaky:

allright ill check to see if the block is warped, and check to make sure it isnt hydrolocked... if all that is good then cant i just replace the rings n throw a new head gasket on their and be good??? first im going to drain all the coolent out and make sure everything is ok, put a new head gasket on and compression check it probably.... ill do all that stuff and get back to you guys... i just dont think ill have the time to rebuild it or have the money to get a engine for this thing... i just want it running for now then once i get out of collage in about a year n have a decent job ill probably rebuild the engine... but thanks for the help guys...

Drain the oil look in the oil pan you can see if there is water in there. If there is it might be hydrolocked. But then again the water could have just went past the rings. I would just pull the head make sure the head is not warped first. The block is iron and it will not warp before the head. The head is aluminum and will warb before the block. Take the head to a machine shop the will tell you for sure. Go to autozone and my a felpro headgasket 40 bucks. Change the oil put the head back on with the new head gasket and top off the cooling system. If the car starts you should be good. Drive it. Do a compression check after that. If it works then all your out is the headgasket. If the head is warped then the machine shop will charge you like 40.00 bucks to have it resurfaced. So then you will be out 80.00 bucks. But 80.00 bucks is alot better that rebuilding the motor if you dont have the money right now.
