Single wire on PS Pump

I changed my Alternator a few weeks ago and when taking the power steering pump off, I noticed a single electrical contact attached to the pump. The wire for it comes out of the same harness as the Alternator contacts. I'm curious what it is? It got knocked off when my power steering belt decided it didn't like being on the car anymore. I reconnected it when I changed the Alternator, but I'm not noticing a difference in steering.

Is it some kind of variable steering thing, or a level sensor? What is this thing for?

Idle switch. So when your at idle and turn the wheel, the ecu will raise the idle so the car won't stall.

Thanks bud. Like I said it was off and I didn't notice any difference, course my ECU is calling for a slightly higher idle than usual since I have the "a/c" on with no belt on the compressor. It keeps both fans running at all times to help with the cooling.
