Sim Stage 1 Head

Well, I was reviewing their site, and could not help but notice the price they had on their head builds. I was doing a hg job anyways, so I figured why not kill two birds with one stone, and replace my head with a build head while I am at it. So I did, contacted them, got a great deal on a stage 1 head. They are a fairly new company, so I was kinda of weary, however they exceeded my expectations. The work is great, quality parts, and overall the price is what really made my decision.

I originally ordered the head on the 5th, they stated it would be done and shipped out so I would get it saturday morning. Well they ran out of something, and did not mention that to me, so I had to call them and see what was up, and then I was told about the issue. Things happen I understand that, but they could have said something earlier to me before I took off work to work on the car and expecting my head. Anywho, the next week the power was out the whole week due to some storms that hit, and did not get my head until friday the 22nd.

Overall, communication was ok, it could have been better in my opinion, however, when I received my head, and at the price I got it at, I could not complain. The work is extravagant, quality, and I would definatly get another head from SIM.

So to further this review, I put some miles on this head (12k miles to be exact). I was told by SIM that my head would have all new valve guides. Well long story short, I took my head to the machine shop (very reputable one at that) and got the head checked out as I was getting oil in my cylinders, and it was not my head gasket. The valve guides were ALL worn out really bad, and the valve seat's were not cut correctly and were leaking. They stated they have only seen guides this worn out when they have alot of miles on them. Well that is not my case, and am very unpleased with my purchase. I could not complain about the price, as it was an excellent price, and at first inspection, all looked great. But unfortunately, after some miles were put on, my opinion changed fast.

Now, I am not bashing SIM 100%, as there are many factor's that play a role, but I will not purchase another head from them any time soon.
