Saskatoon,
I am rebuilding me head with si valves, dual springs and ti retainers. I bought a complete head rebuild kit and it came with new seats/shims for the dual springs. I just finished installing them and am wondering if I did it right. Was I suppose to use the factory seats in conjuntion with the new shims? The new shims that came in the kit have a lip on the outside that keeps the bigger spring in place but nothing on the inside for the inner small spring like the factory seat had. Any help is hugely appreciated.

Just double checked and found that the new valve springs inner spring for my duels won't even fit onto my old seats so that answers that. But I also just noticed that the new springs don't fit properly into the new spring cups/seats they sent me. It's almost as if the new springs are too big, the new cups/seats fit into the head perfect so they must be the right ones. If I take an old valve spring it will fit perfectly into the new cup. Anyone hear of problems like this before?

Just ran out and measured the springs with my caliper:
the oem ones measured 1.119 OD
The new SI duels measured 1.156 OD

Did you purchase the SI spring seat locators with your springs? The Dual springs require a larger seat, so you need the ones that SI makes.

Where did you get your springs?

The SI dual spring kit is a little bigger in diameter. Getting the head stud nuts (ARP) or factory head bolts is a little difficult. There will be a little bit of a fitment issue when putting in the bolts or nuts. Other than that, I was very impressed with the cost and performacne of the SI springs. I also have their valves and have no issues on my 2.4L.
