Couple of days ago I drove my car to work to pick up some of my tools and left it sit outside while I ran in to get some stuff idling and about a minute later came back out and realized that it wasn't running anymore, I couldn't hear the f. pump running, and since I couldn't find a fuse or relay, I replaced the pump. Now, after installing the pump last night, it started the first time and I let it run for about 2-3 minutes and it just died. I left the ignition off for about a minute and turned it over and it started just fine. but only ran for about 10 secs, then it starts to spit and sputter for about a sec or two and then stalls. I am coming off a fresh rebuild and there is about 6,000 miles on the motor. I know that there is nothing mechanically wrong with the motor, and it has to be either electrical or fuel related. I put a new fuel filter in when I had the motor out. I has ran perfectly since I rebuilt the motor. Everything is stock except I took out the balance shafts and put the kit in. This has me stumped and the Chilton is no real help here. Please can someone give me a hint, is this a typical occurrence? the car does have close to 170,000 miles on it. but has been well taken care of. please, help! thanks in advance

I also wanted to mention that the pump that I put in was not a "stock replacement" pump from like auto zone or anything, I got it off of ebay and it is a Walbro pump, and I think that the pressure is a little higher than a replacement pump. could this do anything to cause my problem? I just thought that the pressure regulator would take care of any difference in pressure, but I'm not totally sure. I would have the coils checked, but no one around does that. I just have NAPA and Advance around here where I live. I could really use some help.
