General Shutting down at 80% throttle WTF?

I'm not familiar with DSM's or common issues they may have, I am trying to help a buddy get his 97 GST to run decent enough for now anyways. I've been combating a number of problems with this highly modified and somewhat unknown origin of what had been done with this car, since it was built by a number of different people about 13yrs ago. Anyway one of the major issues is that the car completely shuts down at 80% throttle. Doesn't matter if its at higher RPM, rolling into the gas, or just flat stabbing the gas at idle in neutral. It will come right back if you let out, or it will shut off if you hold it past 80%. Not sure if it is cutting fuel, spark or both. I have swapped the TPS with a new one, same issue. My scan tool shows the TPS at 0% at idle and 100% at WOT, and I know it kills it right at 80% by my scan tool. Any ideas?

Do you have ecmlink or a way to show us a log?

Could be some kind of fail safe feature is set if the car has a standalone ECU or some sort of device.

Yeah, thats the problem. The car has DSMlink V2 and I have not been able to connect to it yet. I had asked for help on that previously and it looks like the ECM will have to be sent in for testing and or upgrading. The EPROM should have a base tune for my injectors and 16g turbo, so I was hoping to get the car to run decent enough for now, without having to deal with sending the ECM off. Good chance this issue is something with the ECM or a previous setting that was made at one time. I was hoping that it may have been a common issue with DSM's something simple and well know of.
