Hey guys. I have looked all over and found nothing. Now only in first gear. Going from stop to go. The car feels like it wheel hopping or burning out. It only happen in first gear all the other gears are fine. Do you know what it could be. I can sometime ease out of it but the car would feel like it is about to stall. So if you can please help me fix this before it gets bad. Thanks

recently, i have been noticing some shuddering when starting from a stop as the clutch begins to grab, but it only does it in first gear - it acts like im not giving it enough gas and stalling it (which i am not, im giving plenty of gas). anyone have any ideas? When I drive it normal, not racing, it jumps or studers at the begining of first gear. not all the time but it is doing it more and more often. anybody know what it is. It doesnt happen when to car is cold.

I had this problem with a friends car. Someone didnt tighten the bolts from the bell housing of the transmission to the engine tight enough an the front bolt on the bell started to back out an was causing the trans to come off the damn engine after some loctite an a hour i was on my way.

to me it alomst sound like the clutch disk is warped...i had that same prob when i
had my corolla...then one day on the highway booommm no more clutch
the whole clutch blew to bits and peices

it all depends on how much power your running!!!!
if your car is stock with tinny mods i would go with and stage 1 act
make sure too get your flywheel machined...don't mess with that
or you'll end up where you are now!!

Its your flywheel, I would guess its got heat spots all over it and it is probably most likely not flat andy more and that is your problem. I bet if you launch it a little bit it grabs fine without chattering?

You really ought to check out all of the front and rear motor mounts before you go buying a clutch and yanking the trans. Wouldn't you feel silly if you bought an expensive new clutch and when you were putting it in you noticed that you could see daylight through your mounts? There was absolutely no rubber left in one of mine by the time I got around to replacing them. It's worth a look.

Possibly something he may want to look into first since it takes all but 2 minutes to check; but Ive had broken/crushed my share of motor mounts, and they usually stop you from being able to get the car in certain gears, or you feel everything slam when you do shift. Chattering/shuddering on takeoff is 99% of the time the clutch and flywheel mating process.

i had a bad engine mount before it gave my car a little shudder taking off but i checked there before heading to the flywheel or clutch and replacing it fixed the shudder but like someone else mentioned it could definately be your flywheel needing resurfacing or maybe even a new clutch its always best to start with the easy to spot problems first and work your way from there so you dont waste money or time.

Mmm lightened Flywheel, and act2600 (6-puck if you don't mind the little extra grab.)
Had this last set up for my gsx which was about 350whp never slipped once.
If you should need to replace it that is my suggestion.
