Fort Worth,
I did a search and didn't find anything like this so I thought it was time to ask.

My 98 GSX has about 86k on it and I noticed that sometimes when I start from a stop, as I start moving, I hear a click noise from the driver's side front. It sounds almost like when a lug nut is loose or something. It is a quick "click click". I can't feel it in the cabin or anything nor does it feel like it is a heavy object. I also can't tell if it does it while I'm driving or not, my car is too loud. I was thinking wheel bearing but it doesn't seem to howl. I check the wheel for play and it doesn't wobble in any way. I'm kinda stumped. It isn't a problem but I just would like to know what I might have to deal with in the future. Any help would be nice, thanks

yeah I was thinking brakes too. I noticed that it does it more when I go in reverse after going forward and vice versa. I'm thinking the clip that holds the pad in place may have come loose allowing the pad to slide back and forth, or something like that. I am going to check that out on friday.

If not the brakes (pads, calipers, rotors) or suspension (eg. ball joints) try the buh-jesus-nut. It's the big nut that holds the axle to the hub that you see in the center of the rotor. They call it the buh-jesus-nut because you have to work the buh-jesus out of yourself to get it loose. I would stick a socket and breaker bar on it (after removing the cotter pin) and try and tighten the thing ever so slightly. Frequently on some chrysler cars this will make a single crack like noise go away. In more pronounced cases the noise will happen both when you stick it in drive and reverse because it's loading, unloading and reloading the tension on the axle and the hub assembly.
Note: This buh-jesus-nut tip was given to me by Doug99RS.

Well I looked at the brakes. The little adhesive pad that goes on the back of the actual brake pad is beginning to peel off. Also one of the clips that holds the pad in the caliper looks like it has come loose. Its nice to know that I don't have to replace wheel bearings or anything. Thanks for the replies.
