Should I go with the HKS 264 or FP1's or FP2's?

These are my mods; Ross 8.5, Eagle Rods, Stock Crankshaft, Stock Rebuild Head. Other minimal bolt ons such as B.O.V, MBC, etc.
My next upgrade are some camshafts.
I have read a lot about this but I never get closure on which are the best ones.
I need help to decide which ones to get.
I would appreciate it for some insight on this.

WTF, we have colored fonts?

It's awesome that there is the color white. I mean who is going to use that? Me.

This discussion has been done 1000 times. You can't ask what's "best." What are you looking for? All the FP and HKS combos are good. What turbo do you plan on sticking with? That would be a good starting point.

It really depends on what kind of car your building. For the street I would go with the 264's or fp1's for more of a race car I'd go for the fp2's. Just depends on what you want to do.

I have "heard" that Comp cams are just as good as HKS with about $100 off the price.

To the people saying FP2 cams.... are they drop in?
He also said he has a stock head, so would going with FP2 cams would he need new valve springs, ect... Just some things he might not have thought of but would just before or just after purchasing.

I am in the process of comparing cams also and with my mods (in mods list), i have settled my choices between Comp 101100 or a HKS 264/272(I know i said they are more expensive) combo. my car is still a DD and will be for a little longer so I dont want to compromise that and go with full HKS 272's or similar. I also dont have the cash flow currently to upgrade my springs.
Hoped that helped a little.
Basically it depends on what your setup is going to be soon and what your car is used for.

If there was a chart on what cams perform at what rpms and if stronger springs are needed it would be alot of help to "cam newbies" like me.

Guys cam comparos aren't a new thing on here. AMS has a good write-up on their website, they dyno compared a whole bunch of cams.

IMO, cams are a LOT of money for gains you don't really see until you are pushing some serious numbers. If you have just minimal mods (stock turbo for example) and try every cam on the market, you are going to see a difference between them that can be had by losing a passenger or adding .5 lb of boost. So either do it and go all out, or put the money elsewhere, like into tuning.

And all that crap about 272's being too rough for a DD is just that. You have to find cams that say RACE ONLY to have problems on the road. There are tons of folks with 272's in their DD's, and they idle like kittens.

Thanks for the input.
I am planing to stick with a street car and going to stay with my 14b.
I am thinking upgrading to a 16b but that will be later.
SO in this case I should go with the FP1's. Right?

LOL. It's 16g but no worries. Based on what I said above, I would put your $500 in the bank. If you do FP1's you will want more later, guarantee it, especially when you feel the need for a 20g or Green (you WILL get there), but stepping up to the 2's, or something even larger probably won't benefit your current situation much, and might make it a pain to drive/tune.

I'm living this situation right now, I've got cams that want to pull like mad after 5k, but a turbo that can't keep up. You can do whatever you want, I'm just one of those don't fix it unless it's broke kind of guys, and the stock cams will take you pretty damn far...beyond the puny 14b for sure.

Well they are louder but they don't stall or make it sound like your car is going to implode like some people out to be. I heard that FP2s idle perfect(a lot better than HKS272s) and give the same specs or very comparable stats as the 272.. Is that true?

If your really looking for power I would get the turbo first and tune from there. The cams won't give you that much power right now. But if your dead set on getting the cams you should go with the 264's or fp1's. Their very similiar, just your choice.

I would suggest Turbo first and then Camshafts.

Otherwise you might get the FP1's and then a 16g and realize it's not enough, then you will have to upgrade both all over again.

Also FP2's and 272's work fine with the stock springs etc.
