santa clara,
Hey all, I have a question. I'm looking at this 98 eclipse gst. It has 130k miles. (Which is my main concern)

The owner says just the brakes and the clutch need to be replaced.

How much would the brake and a clutch be to get replaced? He's asking $4000 and the car has a clean title according to carfax.

Think I should give it a look? It currently has an ACT 2600 clutch but he says it either needs adjusting or a new clutch. Thanks in advance.

Edit: And of course if I decide to buy I'll have my mechanic check it throughly, but mainly I'm asking for those of you who replaced the clutch with a stock one how much it is. Thanks

that sounds like a money pit....you can check it all you want but i would not go for it at all...thats a lot of miles...i got a 95 which is older than this 98 your talking about with 57000 miles when i got it...u can find a way better deal than that....just give it time..i did

true it sounds like a money pit.... but its mainly highway miles and it was a commuter car. Also a 98 gst in "fair" condition with 130k on it is worth about ~$5300 on kbb.

How reliable would dsms be in that high of a mileage?

That car is pretty dam cheap I would buy it IF its only the brake and clutch cause for all you know the whole thing might be going out so have a mechanic check it out....

It's not the milage you have to worry about. It's the condition of the car overall. An act2600 is a very "stout" clutch why is it needing to be replaced or what is going wrong with the clutch? When making a turn and pressing in the clutch then letting out does the clutch come back up or no? (walk check)

Give me some details on the things that are messing up on it if you could please.

He says he's had to replace the clutch in the past (clutch and the master cylinder) I don't know much else right now. Is the master cylinder a sign of crankwalk too?

No, crankwalk has nothing to do with your master cylinder.
I would find out more details about the car before I made a choice. Because theres probably better for less with less of a hassle in the classifides if you want to take a look there bro.

I just received a reply from the seller. He says that the clutch won't engage and that the parking brake light is on. He also says that from the faqs hes read thats from the clutch not being adjusted properly. I'll go take a look I guess, since the 130k miles is all from highway.
