shop says i spun a bearing?

Apparently after getting my timing belt changed and all new wires etc etc, they think i have a tranny problem. There's this scraping noise that i get that's fairly minor and usually only occurs under WOT and significantly more when im in second gear. Is this a ridiculously expensive fix if i do have a spun bearing..... or is the shop off, sorry wish i knew more about these cars. I'm freakin out cause i've spent alot of money already and know that she also needs a new battery

did they say "throw out bearing"? it's a cheap little part that sounds like what you describe, however, the labor for it involves taking the tranny off which is usually expensive for any shop to do.

If it's a spun bearing, it would be in the block, specifically on the rod... If its the throwout bearing, it is the bearing infront of the shift fork, very cheap part but semi labor intensive like project15 stated. Involved literally taking the tranny out of the car to install a new one.

Wouldnt a TOB make noise all the time if it were bad? I can understand rod knock under WOT.

It could be one of the bearings in the transmission? That would explain the second gear thing.

On a cold start you can hear my TOB, sounds nasty try listening to it when idling. Listen for it and right when u hear it push the clutch, if it goes away its most likely your TOB.

yeah it's a thrown bearing in the tranny apparently. I wish i could do this stuff myself and had a garage How many hours of labour would you think?
