spun a bearing

I just bought a 1993 eagle talon awd tsi bone stock. When i bought the car the guy told me it had spun a bearing on the crankshaft. Not sure if its a rod bearing or not. I have pulled the engine out and have it on an engine stand. Im just wondering what the best way to go on fixing my engine.

I would recomend getting an 4g63 engine rebuild book. I recomend new crank. Have the rods checked by a machine shop also have the cylender walls checked to see if it needs to be boared over. You may want to concider upgrading internals if you have the money.

ok i was wondering if i could get the crankshaft turned and get new bearings put on it if that would work? cause i just need to get my car running soon...... i was thinking about getting a 6 bolt engine and build that up on the side.

Mostly when you spin a rod bearing some damage is done to the crank journal. Only way to see if any damage is done is take to machine shop to be safe.

First things first. Before guessing what the problem might be open it up. It might be as simple as the ballance shafts have eaten them selves. That would be a easy rebuild.

But back to first things first

when i started the engine before i removed it from the car it made kinda like a pinging noise and when you reved it up it pinged faster

Just open it up look already. You already have it out of the car. Until you find out EXACTLY what's wrong, we're all guessing.

ok well got the engine tore down the rod bearing were completely gone. so i need to get a crank pistons and rebuild the head. i dont know if i want to rebuild this one or just get a jdm 5 speed and convert (mines a auto).
