I have been noticing that I have had trouble shifting gears, or getting into a gear at all while driving. Seems that I am also not disengaging from gears while I am in them. But I know if I turn my car off, shift into the gear i want, I have no problems at all.

i checked my master cylinder and fluids, everything SEEMS to be fine there, is this a Slave Cylinder problem then? Or do i just need to bleed my clutch line? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It seems that you problems are clutch related... If you have not bled the system fully, that would be the place to start.

Also check for leaking around each of the components, Clutch master cylinder and Clutch slave cylinder… make sure to look for leaking on the firewall inside the car behind the pedals, mine had a slow leak there for months and I never noticed it until I eventually had shifting issues.

If you do find a leak, the parts are not expensive you can replace them fairly easily. just make sure to bleed the system thoroughly…

After you have everything bled, make sure to take time to do the clutch adjustments in the VFAQ.com site and the RRE tech site.

I'm going to try what you have suggested.. I just bought the car and this is the second time it has happen. the first time i took the transmission out.. and put it back in, and it worked for a couple days. but now it is doing it again..

Check for leaks like he said, and if you dont find anything and start replacing parts, try not to buy from autozone or advance, get mitsubishi oem parts, they are more reliable than cheap aftermarket. Sounds like a clutch problem though, i would try an bleed the system first though.
Brad.

Could my short throw shift maybe be causing this problem? i was looking on another post and someone metioned that a improperly installed short throw can cause this problem

It COULD be the problem, however I doubt it.

Pull back your slave boot, check for any leaks, a bunch of fluid will fall on ya if you got a leak!

Do a syncro test. Clutch out, in neutral, turn the car on. Then slowly start to slide the shifter into each gear (SLOWLY) with the clutch still out. If your engine bogs down, you have properly working syncros. (It maybe will bog down 100 or 200 rpms.

Do a clutch dragging test. Put it in first gear, clutch in, and rev it up to 7000 Rpms. DON'T HOLD IT THERE. Just a quick blip. If your car starts to jut forward, your clutch is dragging. Now this may not be an ideal way to do it (don't over rev your engine) but it's the easiest way to tell. I've done it plenty of times.

I would try bleeding your clutch system anyways, just for funsies. If not that, re adjust your master rod under the car.

YouTube - Proper Clutch Adjustment

A dragging clutch will destroy your new trans!! When a clutch drags, it is not letting go of the disk fully which overloads the synchros and burns them up quickly! Synchros work by speeding up or slowing down the input shaft and disk. If the clutch is dragging that little synchro is trying to speed up or slow down the engine, which is impossible for it to do.

Update: Well after about 3 hours of working on the transmission, i have found out that the rear bolt on the transmission snapped causing the transmission to pull away from the motor.. this is the second time this has happend, Does anyone have any suggestions to keep this from happening again
