Hey everyone, I have a couple quick questions:

First off, I installed a tranny onto my 91 GSX off of my brother's 91 TSI (w/ABS). For some reason, it didn't just slide onto the block, I had to get it as close as I could to the block, then slide the bolts through their mounting points and slowly tighten the tranny to the motor. Is that normal...at all?

Second, the mounting bracket for the shifter linkeage on the tranny was different on my brothers (91 TSI), the linkeage wouldn't reach the gear selector/shifters, so I replaced his bracket with the one off my old tranny. Now, the tranny has lateral movement in 1/2 and 5/reverse, but it's pretty tight in 3/4th, anyone know why that would be, or why the hell the mounting bracket would even be different on the tranny in the first damn place? And yes I adjusted the shifter linkeage inside the car, even stiffened up the spring, etc. I took the whole damn shfiter assembly apart (including the baseplate that is bolted down) and tightened everything I could. Also, I have the symborski shifter kit as well.

Third, the speedo cable was rusted into the tranny, I had to wiggle it back and forth with a decent amount of force to break it loose, now, on the new tranny, the speedo needle wobble/jumps around until like 45-50 mph, then it becomes pretty stable. Besides replacing the speedo cable, any ideas?

Okay, on a side note, I believe since I've installed the new tranny, there's far more vibration then before the install (however, I could be crazy, I did double check the tranny mount and the bolts to the block, all are tight). That's it, thanks for reading, please someone give me some insight here.

I'm going to tackle question #3 here. Replacing the speedo cable should work, but first try lubing it. Just unscrew the cable from the tranny, untangle it from all the other hoses and lines and raise it up, then drip some good, thick oil inside the cable end. Prop up the cable so gravity pulls the lube farther up the cable. That should help. If not, the cable is ruined and should be replaced.
