Hello,

I just installed the symborski shifter kit. The install was simple. You know the little spring on the shifter that makes the shifter go back to neutral when you are moving it around etc? Well... now it seems to be loose and when I am in first gear i can move the shifter to the right and stuff and now there is a lot of play because that spring is so loose. Anyone ever had this problem and fixed it easily? It was the same way on my first gen too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's quite annoying when i can shift from first to second... and then feel the spring pull the shifter to the right when i take my hand off of it.

Thanks!

If I were to take a guess I'd say you installed the spring incorrectly. I don't know how to describe how it's supposed to be installed though.

How much should the shifter move from left to right while in gear? Should there be a little play or none at all? I guess I wouldn't know because I haven't had a DSM that didn't have any play in the shifter.

Thanks!

check for the plastic bushing on the end of the shifter. if that's gone there will be alot of play in the shifter while it's in gear. it'll also sound like metal on metal when you move it side to side.

You are referring to the bushing that lets the shifter move side to side like you were going to shift gears.. correct? If so.. i don't see a bushing there.. just a circle where the shifter goes down in.. no bushing. I'm new to doing this so not exactly sure which bushing im looking for.

there is a round piece of plastic, i referred to it as a bushing, that goes on the end of the shifter. it slides on and off and is easy to lose. if that is gone there will alot of play in the shifter while it is in gear and you'll hear the end of the shifter hitting the inside of that circle you see down there. the bushing is a round cylinder with a slot cut to match the end of the shifter.

.. the shifter on my 1G does that.. i took it apart and the bushings are all worn out as well as the spring.
Where can i buy new bushings/spring from?
