i got the urethane shifter plate bushings from RRE and they're great, but what's the general idea with shifter cable bushings? do i want metal or urethane ones? are there any good brands of them out there? ebay has a whole slew of them, but so many look so sketchy.

Rollerblade bearings.

Ya what he said. Jon & Ming from TRE told me to use the rollerblade bearings after my tranny was rebuilt.

Go with the cheapest sealed ones. They're only going to be shifting, not bearing the thousands of psi of a rollerblade wheel going over sidewalk expansion joints. They'll fail from a lack of rotation (no lubricant distribution) in about two-hundred years.
