I'm doing the under hood shifter bushing mod, but I've run into a problem. The brass sleeve that is inside the stock rubber bushing is stuck on the pin of the shift lever on the tranny. Any suggestions on how to get it off? I was thinking - use a dremel with a cutting wheel.

Dremel, a file, or just man-handle a bare hacksaw blade like I did. Just cut one section of it and rip it out. Good luck pressing in the new bushings. You'll want to sand the hell out of the insde of the shifter cable end ring, so the new ones will go in smoothly.

Are you using the solid metal bushings, or the skateboard bearings welded together? I had the skateboard ones, but just the force of pressing them in broke the welds on them. The solid metal ones are tits.

I ended up using a dremel with a cutting wheel to make a couple of slits, then peeled some away, and was able to get it off. What a PITA. I've got the skate bearings, haven't put them in yet. Thanks for all the tips.

Again, Dremel with a cutting wheel, then peeling it off with pliers worked for me. Good luck.

Im trying to replace the brass bushings that are in my shifter cables and they are one piece so im guess the only way to get them out is to press them out? any advise?

I used penetrating oil and the just pryed them up with a flathead screwdriver *shrugs* I use to make the grip of shifter bushings and sell them on ebay and never heard of anyone having one that froze on.. i bet your shifting is a b!tch

I used a small vice grip to work it up and down while spraying lube. I pried them out with a flat head screw driver. It really wasn't all that bad.
