HELP! crank sprocket removal!!

Ok so i'm taking my crank out due to spun rod bearings. I have the motor out of the car. I got everything off, down to the crank sprocket. I DID get the crank bolt off, but now I dont know how to get the sprocket off. Seems to be naturally stuck on there, I dont see any bolts or anything holding it on, and i dont want to pry on it and chance cracking the aluminum. Any ideas? Also, I dont see how I'd get a puller on either, i've tried. I'll take ANY advice guys... oh and its a 7 bolt btw
 
A puller is how I got mine off. Exactly why were you unable to use the puller? Unless it's way too small or large there shouldn't be a problem with using one.
 
you got a pic of the puller or doing the work? What exactly are you pulling on. I cant get behind the sprocket and im not gonnna pull on the thin metal for the crank sensor. Im lost
 
My apologies. I was actually thinking of the oil pump sprocket that I had to use a puller on. The crank sprocket came off w/out difficulty.:)

Maybe try bolting the crank pulley back on (just hand tighten the 4 bolts) and try using the puller tool on that.
 
shouldn't need a puller just tap it with hammer or a dead blow. Mine came off with my hands. Didnt have to beat it. Or pull it. And my motor was sitting for awhile. Getting the bolts off that was a different story.
 
It should come off. If it doesn't, you will want a puller. I used your everyday 2 jaw puller, removed the jaws, and put two longer bolts through that. It really only takes half a turn and the thing breaks loose. If you need a picture, I can get you one, in action even ;)

Nice moves.

You will want to use a puller like tkelly27 mentions where two bolts will thread into the sprocket and the long bolt in the middle of the "t" goes against the crank with a small piece of brass or other soft metal inbetween. This is to save the crank from damage from the puller.

You can also use a steering wheel puller or a crank pulley puller. It sounds like you have the jawed puller to take a apart and use. Try that method out first before you go buy another puller.

I just bolted the crank pulley back on with the 4 bolts, placed a piece of a 2x4 across it and whacked it a couple times with a hammer and it popped off. Just make sure you use the 2x4 or you will fubar your crank pulley.
