I was shopping around for a shift knob and initially came across the AMS Delrin knob.

First thing that came into mind when i saw "delrin" were the sliders on my motorcycle. I was intrigued by the shape of the knob *no ####*

Moving on with my search i stumbled upon Shift knobs and settled on the 3" aluminum model since its heavier than delrin plus it is $20 cheaper compared to the AMS knob.

I knew that the aluminum would retain heat so after having it for about a week i decided to http://www.plastidip.com/home_solutions/Plasti_Dip the whole knob. it added a little more weight which is a plus. the grip is amazing. it doesnt retain heat anymore so on those sunny days i dont have to play hot potato when im driving.

I am thinking about cutting my short shifter down to make it actually shorter in length. How much Should I take off? and where to cut at? I have an ebay B&M knock off.

MOMO SHIFT KNOB (So old I've worn the lettering off).

Bonus pick of my ancient stereo (replacing this weekend), and my lighter that needs painting.

I've had this shift knob forever (moved it from my 91 to this car), and I really like the feel of it.

In the market for a new shift knob and was wondering what everyone else was using? Anybody with ebay knobs? If so which ones and how good/crappy are they. Pics installed are also welcome.:sneaky:

Whatever you do, I recommend NOT buying one of those universal knobs. I would get one with the correct thread pitch, so you can just unscrew your old one and screw the new one back on. That way it's nice and solid and it's not going to come flying off between shifts. (been there, done that, it sucks):| Right now I am using a short, ball style one off of an old early 90's Ford Escort which I've had for about 7-8 years. LOL It threaded right on for me, so I used it.:D

By the way, the thread pitch is M10x1.25mm ;) Good luck!

You will probably laugh at this one. When I bought the car, the previous owner kept the shift knob that was in it for his 2g he was building. He gave he some cheap knob with the Allen screws in it. After pulling the knob off the shifter a few times, I dug through my spare parts and found my stock Honda Accord knob (i had put a Hurst T-grip in it, I know, in a Honda? Yeah, I did that). It is rubber and plastic, plastic on the shaft so I just threaded it down on it. It has worked like that for 2 years, never pulled it off.

I have a MOMO shift knob, and it is a piece of SHIT, I hate that shift knob with every ounce of my being! It works loose from the shifter about every four days, also I cant use the bottom piece that screws up on to it from the bottom unless I leave it up about 3/4 of an inch because if I put it down all the way I can't tighten the set screws that hold it on, it's just a piss poor design! I included a link to it hopefully it works!

+1! I have a universal one on mine and i hate it. its tigntened down to a plastic fitting but slips right off if i pull hard when shifting. i wrenched in a piece of paper towels to keep it from slipping but it hardly works. Im going to go with a threaded one sometime this week. also dont get an aluminum one since mine started cracking along the side anyway from being tightened so much

Yeah fellas, that's why I say never buy a universal one... They are just junk and you're asking for problems if you decide to use one. Just think of your shifter knob like you do your women... If it/she doesn't screw, then it/she isn't for you.LOL

I wanna get the same one in either the gunmetal or black pearl like that one. I want one darker in color.
