Shift Knob Showoff

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

been running the Megan Racing's B&M knock off and a Greddy counter weight shifter...perfect combo as the weight of the knob makes it feel like the shifter is being pulled into the next gear

I will upload pics tomorrow

an update on my shift knob, since it has changed since my last post. i broke that one (well broke the shifter threads off inside it).

so B&M shifter, and e-bay knob.

where did you get the carbon fiber side console panels on your car?

ebay. the seller's name is specialcarbonfiber they fit awesome, but they don't come with the scew covers and the stock ones don't fit. so i bought one of those stick on carbon fiber fuel door lids and cut circles out of them to stick on the panels.

and i assume you mean the side console panels. the kick panes are the panels in the corners next to the door, and i do have those also, but those are custom made.

i was wrong anyway it's the otherway around. purple is correct, blue is fake.
here is a pic right off B&M's website:

and here is a ebay listing for the B&M shifter:
B&M 45077 ECLIPSE SEBRING AVENGER SHORT THROW SHIFTER - eBay (item 280641237002 end time Mar-18-11 16:40:20 PDT)
and that's blue... hmmm so the guy could have really thought he bought a B&M shifter. unless it really came in two different colors? idk
the look like theyw ere designed the same, so i doubt one is better then the other.

Blue is incorrect huh? Take a look at my pictures again.

spawnedX:

if the picture right on B&M's website is the purple one, i think the purple one is probably the original one. with that said, i recently bought a new one off e-bay because my old one broke (which was the purple one) and the blue one is better made. the blue one came with the top screw welded to the shifter, and the purple one didn't, it was two bolts on each side, which sucked because it always came lose.

after setting them both side by side, the only differences in were that the blue one came with the welded screw, and the blue one was less shiny.

i like the blue one more. and if the blue one was the real one, then why is the purple one the one on B&M's website? look it up yourself if you don't believe me. i called up B&M and they said they hadn't made the short throw for the eclipse/talon/avenger/sebring since January of last year, yet you can still buy them all over the place online. unless vendors had stock piled them, the blue one's are the knock off.

and yes i'm aware the blue ones come in a B&M box, but anyone can print out a box.

but to be honest i don't KNOW the blue ones aren't real. maybe B&M used a picture of a knock off on their website, or maybe they made both colors.

Well I tried to have you come to the conclusion on your own...

B&M, as most people will tell you, re-designed the pivot on the 2G shifter early in it's production. The new design came with a blue pivot, both to identify the version and to help B&M ID which was an eBay knock-off and which was not.

^^ i don't know how i was supposed to come to that conclusion on my own, but i DID say it was possible that B&M made both colors.

thanks for the info.

stock knob on mine. B&M short shift. actually found the short shift rummaging through dsms at the junkyard. someone had cut the top of it off (assuming they wanted the shift knob?) but i took the boot off and there it was. just welded bolt threads to the top of it.

Lets see here, is there a true difference between the B&M and knock off? Not a single damn thing! Well except price! Knockoff FTMFW

Pic to follow, I'm still rocking the 2011 Ford Focus (same as the Mustang V6 except Mustang is silver, focus is black) shift knob on a modified short throw shifter. I don't know what brand my shifter is, but the rod unbolted from the shifter, which left me able to make a shorter rod very easily, now my shifter is very low.

Changed the skin, put the skin with a red thread.
