I am having serious problems with my pressure plate going on my flywheel.
I cant figure out why it wont go on.
I have a 91 5spd awd and Boought a fidanza flywheel and oem clutch/pressure plate.
So i went to put everything on my car and the pressure plate wont go on the flywheel.
It wont drop on the keyway pins, when the bolt holes are lined up.
I get get it to drop on the key ways but then only 3 bolt holes are lined up.
The 3 things that hold/bolt the holding surface on the pressure plate are hitting the step on the flywheel. Can i just shave these a little bit?Thats all it will take for it to go on.
Or will an oem pressure plate not work with my fidanza flwheel is this the problem?
I really need to figure this out before winter.I dont want my tranny out during winter.
I have posted a thread before about this but i havnt figured it out yet.
I will greatly appreciate all suggestions and help.
Thanks

The fidanza flywheel will work with any "correct" clutch for your car. The same is true the other way.

The only way you are not able to line everything up (just like stock) is if there is a manufacture error (not likely) or the wrong parts. You having the wrong parts is more than likely the problem. Your flywheel with have a part number on it. Call fidanza and have them tell you what it is for. Do the same with the clutch.

I would like to see some good detailed pictures of what your issue is, and what you are wanting to grind off. You should NOT NEED to do any modification to the CORRECT parts for installation. Everything should fit like stock. Do you have to old parts? If so, line these up and see what is different. If its the clutch, get the correct one. If its the flywheel, get the correct one.

I think you are making this harder on yourself then you need to. Get some pics up and I will see what I can do to help.

I hope that this is able to help you solve your problem,

Jake

I will get some pics up today.
I planned on calling fidanza today, but i have to wait till 2:00 thats when the tech dep. opens.
I went to advanced and they got out another clutch and it did the samething.\
The only numbers on the flywheel are D064018 thats on the friction side.
Then MIT4-6297 and 9H01(cant tell if its 1 or i) MT(looks like T)106
Any of those look familiar

I just talked to fidanza.
They let me talk to one of the tech guys.
He had me send him some pics.
Hes ganna see what he thinks. He said its the correct flywheel, but might have a defect

I talked to them today gave them the numbers off it.
I talked to 3 diff people 3 diff times at findanza and all of them said it was the correct.
No i didnt get it from ebay.
I sent fidanza some pics, they called me back and said they wanted me to send it to them.
So im taking it to ups in the morning.
Ill let you guys know what they say when they get it.

While waiting to take my fidanza to ups to send it back.
I carefully compared it to my stocker.
I think i found my problem.
The mounting surfaces on the fidanza are longer than the ones on the stock flywheel.
I will include a pic of what im talking about.
So this is causing the 3 tabs that hold the holding surface to the rest of the pressure plate,to sit on top of the mounting surface on the flywheel instead of dropping down.

I did not post these pics to "BUMP" my thread. Im sorry if it seams that way.
I did it for the sole purpose to give somebody trying to help me a visual of whats going on.
It was something i found since i first posted the thread, that could be my problem.
So i was wondering what i should do send the fidanza back,or maybe shave the pressureplate a little to get it to drop.
Also are pressure plates balenced? If they are im deff. not going to shave it.
Thanks

it wont "drop" the pad on the pressure plate that your trying to make go down needs to be on top of the step
