I hate posting new threads...makes me feel like I didn't use the search enough...:ohdamn::(

anyways, I'm seeking a good pressure plate, clutch, and flywheel combo. right now, I'm working with a 99 gsx 5 speed with about 21k on the tranny, brand new from the mitsu dealer (from the previous owner).

what i'm trying to do is have something that engages, catches, disengages, etc. all very smoothy. i don't want it to feel like i'm pushing a ton of bricks to shift thru gears either. also, the build i'm planning is easily gonna be pushing 350whp, probably over 400whp. the car for the most part will be used as my dd, but i also want something trackable too.

now I read on here a week or so ago, that a good combo is an ACT clutch with a fidanza pressure plate and flywheel. Is that the right decision? recommendations would be great.

also, I already have a fidanza flywheel, but if I should ditch it...then I will...

The ACT2600 pressure plate is a nice unit, but a bit overkill for your goals. You can run either an ACT2100 or a South Bend Clutch SS-Series pressure plate with a SBC TZ-Series kevlar clutch disk and then preferably a lightweight steel flywheel. Using an aluminum flywheel with a steel friction surface can possibly cause uneven wear of the replacement friction surface and the clutch disk due to the different rates of exansion of the flywheel vs. the friction surface causing surface warpage. I would recommend an ACT Streetlite chromoly steel flywheel or a stock flywheel with this combination.

I figured the act2600 was overkill so thank you for clearing that up. thank you for explaining it a little more in depth as well. I'm coming from 2 auto GST's so this is a bit different. :sneaky:

Eric, I love your enthusiasm for this car!

For what it's worth, my '97 GSX will have an ACT2100 Street Disc on either the stock flywheel or an ACT Streetlite flywheel....depends on whether I find a good deal on one or not. This will be a 16G car at around 20psi.

hey...i have one of those...this turbo genius built me mine...and I'm moving on to bigger and better things:thumb:

I think you should opt for a 2600 pressure plate.

I just had a clutch kit installed, 2100PPACT Street DiscACT FlywheelACT.

...and in all honesty, I think the pressure plate is way to light, feels like stock to me..

and 350whp-400whp.. thats enough for a 2600pp, IMO
