I've been doing mine and my friends tints since i got into cars when i was like 15/16..I'm 22 now and ill tell you the hardest part is preparation, and im actually about to tint my wife's jeep cherokee for her tomorrow after i get it inspected. the key is cleaning everywhere on the window, and i mean getting under the rubber weather stripping that the windows go into, cut it accurately meaning is has to flow the shape of the window, yes, but it doesnt have to be perfect, with tinting, youd def rather have overflow, than underestimating it, dish washer soap should be used to get off old residue for old tint, and water, and a razor blade. if i ever have a tough time getting sticky residue off, i have a healthy supply of goo-gone, it's god's gift to people that hate stupid sticky residue from stickers or tint. cutting the shape though is probably the most challenging part, try and be artistic about it. but ill give you guys a step by step tinting for idiots guide right now before i head to sleep..
1. get the supplies. (spray bottle, water, soap..dishwasher is good, razor, tint..get a few boxes if its your first time..you will need practice, wedge, hairdryer, shop towels)
2. spray rear hatch window with soapy water. throw tint over it and pat the tint down to get a good accurate working surface in order to cut the shape of the window out. once its on the whole window (do this quickly so as to not let the tint dry on there) take the razor and cut out the shape, try to get as close to the edge of the window as possible.
3. next take the tint on the inside of the car and (obviously you cleaned your windows before so you can be quick about these next steps) and spray the inside window with a healthy amount of soapy water and spray some more on the tint. place it up there and even it out so its centered.
4. one window at a time btw
5. tuck the edges under the trim.
6. take a wedge, a flexible one is best, but you can still do it with a hard edge and start at the top going to the outside edges away from the center and get the bubbles out with the wedge, and do not forget the extra tint you tucked under the trim.
7. now take a dryer and using the wedge..and very lightly i might add, go over the whole thing again and get any little bubbles out.

last step, DO NOT roll down your windows for at least the next hour or two, I don't even drive my cars after i tint them for a few hours to allow the soapy water to concrete and harden the bond.

well i hope this helps, any questions, just ask.

I tinted the windows on the 1g myself and I cant tell you how f'in annoying the rear triangle windows are because of the seal they use on those windows. I ended up ripping everything off the car cause I couldnt get ONE window to look right and was pissed it really IS worth just spending the money and having a PRO do it all for you. Some places do 1 piece rear windows now too.
