I have a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I have no pictures of it now, but it looks great, it is silver, lowered, 18inch chrome rims, no radio inside, inside is nice, it is a convertible, it does not leak, the only problem is the security box from the current dealership. It has locked down my car, to force it not to start, NOTHING IS MECHANICALLY WRONG. The engine, tires, everything is fine with it. New brake cylinders, tires. It is nice, only 135xxx miles on it also. Very good on gas, also it sounds mean. It has a turbo exhaust on it. You will have to get this car towed to your house, but if you can get the security box unplugged from the engine, it will run fine. Also i have lost the title for this car, so i have no title. Make me an offer, send me an email, and we'll work something out. Also the heat and air are amazing. Trades are open too, i want a little honda or a 90s model mustang, let me know what you have. This eclipse is well worth over 6000 bucks, but im letting it go cheap. I need a car so let me know what you have please.

I found this post on craigslist, I want this car its cheep what is he talking about some one please help me, what would i have to do to get this thing running.

...uh, at first I thought this was someone posting an ad by mistake on the newb thread LOL.

First they'd need to find out what alarm system is on there, and just have it removed. Something seems very fishy about the whole ad. Guy sounds like he has no idea what he's talking about, or is covering something up that might be trouble later on.

And no title? I'd stay away imo.

No title? I would have a cop come do a vin inspection with the guy standing there. Then also have him sign a bill of sale and file a lost title with the bmv. The bill of sale will legally ensure you the title when he gets it in. Also get a picture of his drivers license so you know exactly who he is. Its still pretty risky though.

I realize it all seems fishy, Just trying to find away to fix the problem he is telling me about, and I have a friend that's a cop and I get him to come with me every time i go to buy or look at a car. What do I have to do to temporarily remove the security system, till I can put a new one in the car.

Years ago my father bought a new 3000GT VR4 that came with that same shit.It had a special key for the ignition.Someone tried to steal the car 3 times. On the 3rd time they even tried pushing it down the road with another car destroying the rear bumper.Im sure a dealer could tell you how to deactivate it.BTW theres a 98 turbo spyder down the road from me for sale.135,000 miles, hes asking for $3500

Its a type of immobilizer. They have a sort of remote to them. A couple of my friends have bought used cars from lots and if the payment wasn't made, they would send a signal to the box and the car wouldn't start until a payment was made and the dealer would send a code to turn off the immobilizer. Sounds really fishy to me, I'd stay away.

For cars that doesn't run, I'd give him as much as the junkyard would. Who knows what the real problem is, you could get it torn apart and realize it doesn't start because it has no pistons.

But all together, think about it: No title, no stereo, and locked up by a security system. It's probably stolen.

It's a buy here pay here car and the dealership locked out the ignition system. I would have to say that it is up for repo and and that is why he says it has no title. He can't get it without paying it off depending on what the state guidelines are. Run as fast as you can!
