When i was younger the love of my life was my 92 gs. i had everything you could bolt on a nonturbo i swore i was the coolest kid in the school parking lot... haha well im a lil older now and my love for dsm is still alive and kicking so i recently picked up a new project. A 96 gst... The motor only has 71,000 original miles... Only thing it has recently been rebuilt. Heres the story, the motor through a rod. It got all new internals.. new crank, forged rods, forged pistons, all new bearings, ext ext. After getting it all put back together and running within 500 miles it was smoking pretty bad, that's when i picked it up. after a quick diagnostic i learned it was cylinder 2.. So i tore down the head and took a look. Some turd didnt install the rings correct and caused some light scoring on the cylinder wall. ive pulled the block but haven't disabled yet. With that being said and all the internals still being in good working order im going to have the bottom end resurfaced and put back together (professionally). As for the top end i'v recently purchased a set of crower valves, springs, retainers, and guides. Im looking for cam, injector, and tuning suggestions. ill be running a Garrett 60 trim t3t4. im looking for any advise or suggestions. My car is super clean and cant wait to have it on the road.:D

looking to have a 250 whp car ive got about a 1500 budget and im sure as my pay checks come in ill be eating off the dollar menu to get this thing finished soon. id like to make reasonable power with out putting to much stress on the motor. ive got to find a good complete gasket kit, id use the autozone but im not sure if the head gasket is worth anything, apr head bolts are on the list. should i run stock cams and just get adjustable gears? or is there a good set up for a mild build.

Thanks for the link. very usefull :thumb:

Idk what else you have, but here's a start of what you'll need:

Large injectors (1000cc+)
DsmLink + Ecu
Walbro 255 fuel pump
AFPR + Fittings

If you dont have it already, add:

3" exhaust
T3 flanged Ex. Mani
Intake
Wideband, Aftermarket Boost Gauge
FMIC + piping
External Wastegate
Aftermarket BOV or 1G bov if you're cheap.

I personally wouldn't bother with cams until further down the road. You have a lot of parts to buy to lay a good groundwork before cam profile will hold you back. Stock cams at stock timing, my $.02

For 1500 you can get plenty of things start with Horsepowerfreaks.com They will have a AEM fuel rail for your gst, and oem injectors, next you can get HKS Cams, then you can get a pacesetter header. and boom that should be around 1500$. Thats what I would do or go to your local tuner shop and order the parts from them Andysautosports.com is good place to shop as-well.

What's wrong with the stock rail? and OEM 450cc injectors ain't gonna cut it.

Actually, they WILL cut it.... Fuel Cut! :D

You don't need adjustable cam gears for 250hp that's for sure. I would just do all the maintenance you can with good quality parts. I wouldn't Go the autozone route unless using felpro brand is a bad idea bro. I would get a oem composite headgasket and if you have the cash arp's. If you already have a turbo planned than you need to get supporting mods for it. The biggest being a way to tune everything I would suggest ecmlink then you can upgrade the fuel system to handle higher boost, 850 or higher injectors I recommend FIC, walbro 255 rewired and afpr, check out STM for all your upgrade needs.

250whp has been done with bone stock setups and a good tune (usually DSMLink).

Cams of any kind and that t3/t4 turbo are honestly overkill. You can put down over 300hp with stock cams and a slightly larger factory turbo (such as a 16g), and street manners won't suffer one bit.

Stock fuel rail has a larger ID than the AEM fuel rails. And turbo engines use an exhaust manifold, not a header. :thumb:

Felpro is considered equal to the stock headgasket, just cheaper in price.

ive got 3" stainless full, ebay headers, auto meter boost, air fuel, and oil pressure, as for the intake i was going to use the stock intake with the 1g throttle body. 1000cc injector means i would for sure have to use dsm link? or some kind of piggyback? ive got a knock off BOV but i will need a wastgate. any suggestions for a cheap depandable?

I said unless your buying felpro brand!! Was advising not to get like autozone high performance timing belt kit, adds 50hp LOL!! Get my point! ;)

the only reason for my t3t4 is that i already own it and its in good shape. im learning its over kill and unnecessary.

Ya bro your better of starting with a slightly bigger bolt on turbo like a 14b or 16g. Look at my mods and profile! All that done on a low budget mostly used parts and a small 16g!! The only thing I bought new was ecmlink, race axles and slicks.

One thing I can't stress enough no matter what you're building is, take your time and be patient, I had to learn that the hard way when I first got mine, patience pays off in the end.

Thanks for all the advise. i will keep you guys updated, im going with a first gen head intake and trottle body, looking for a fuel pump wastegate and injectors.

Cleaned up the engine bay slapped on a front mount intercooler, arp head studs, cosmetic head gasket, fuel pressure regulator, egr delete, all new timing components, a few more odds and ins and my motor goes to the machine shop this weekend.

DSM link for sure all you'll ever need. And I would recommend dumping off that knock off bov for a reputable one or a 1g bov.

To add on the fuel pump, evo 10 fuel pumps are nice and cheap from the evo guys and drop right in a 2g, I got an evo 9 and 10 pump both for 20 bucks. I forget the actual flow rates but the evo 10 is kinda close flow rate wise to a wally 190. Evo 10's flow a bit more than evo 9's from what I have read on this site.

<<UPDATE>>

I procrastinated!! imagine that! Well really I just look long and hard and found an awd donor.. as of right now I currently have my rear sub frame complete and the tank has been mocked up I cut out my spare tire compartment and will soon be installing a cross brace and reinstalling a piece of sheet metal. As for a trans? I got my hands on a shep stage 2. I stopped lying to myself about my engine bay looking good and im currently in the process of shaving my firewall running a 3g brake system and relocating my fuse box in my glove compartment. oh yeah! I got a set of evo 8! its been a busy year at work but ive been slowly working on my girl. With all that being said my drive to complete my car is greater then ever hope to be up and running by summer! ill try and keep the build a little better posted. (I found it to be super easy to post on on dsm tuners via facebook)
