sorry to bring this back up, but what setup should we go with to mount aftermarket seats and have them sit similar to stock and still be able to slide them forward and backwards.

thers so much different little inputs, no real general conclusion.

which are the bad brackets to avoid that make the seat higher than stock and closer to the ceiling

Lol! Ill do my part to bring it back to life. I know for a fact that the Tenzo R brackets are pi#% poor. They dont fit at all. It's unblanced and it only fits well in two corners. One on the upper left and the other on the lower right. So the tenzo get a big 0 in my book. BTW a company called wedge engineering makes brackets that are made to fit your car and your seat, so the side mount seats and the normal mount are good to go. They make them so it sits at stock height, or a little lower for some. Hope this helps. Im still looking for a faster option though... But Im most likely gonna end up getting them to make a set.

Does anyone know where I can get seat brackets for Yonaka seats or if any other manufacture's brackets will fit?

you can get Advanced Auto Parts to order them out of the catalog they got behind the desk

i picked up a pair of very lightly used 3a racing seats from this kid.

I took my old brackets off of my seats and i started taking some measurements.

these seats HARDLY fit in. there very wide.

On the seats. bolt to bolt hole width is 16inches!
on 1g seats the width is 13 inches

any ideas how i should go about getting these things to mount up safely? as if i get into 25mph head on crash the seat isnt gonna smash me against the steering wheel.

i have the 3A seats too... they are wide so you need to place a little spacer (8mm i believe) it will then fit fine but leans slightly to the inside but at least it doesn't scrape the interior

i'm not understanding.

the floor is 13 inches apart.

the seat is 16 inches apart.

how does a spacer fix that?

Maybe the 2G is a little wider, but with the spacer in it raises the outside to lean to the inside so you can avoid the seats from rubbing the door/quarter panels/head bar. and with my brackets i drilled holes in the brackets because the seats didn't fit in the pre-drilled slots. So i brought the seats closer to the centre console. There's only enough space to slide my fingers in there but not my hand. Which 3A seats did you get? Did you get the same ones i have in my pics?

i cant seem the in the picture but there black and gray and its vinyl with a bunch of dots all over them. But i had some black interior paint and i sprayed them black cause the gray looked ghey. I could just get some like 2" pieces and weld them to the sliders. then bolt them down to the car and the top will bolt right up to the seat. I'm just uncertain that a weld would hold in an actual collision..

bascally the same.

Anyone with a current stripped 2g could you measure the bolt holes width from the center of the nut?

It's going to be unsafe EITHER way, unless you have a harness bar, or a way to mount your harnesses directly behind you and not on the floor RIGHT behind you.

i didnt ask how to mount the harness. i do have a harness bar
i just want to safly mount these seats

I want to remove the stock seats that came in my '99 Spyder and put in some Silk Automotive black and red race seats. I was wondering if anyone had installed them and if so if they had to order new seat brackets or modify the old ones.

That was my original plan, but I figured I would see if anyone had put these seats in and if so what problems they may have or may have not had.

Well I hate the look of the stock seats, they look like total crap and I want to install a 4-point harness with the seats.

Where I am they are still all legal to have in a car and provide better saftey than the stock seat belts. That and too keep the show car look, I am putting in the red 4-point harness.

mine are in excellent condition considering how old they are one small tear in the seam wich is fixing to get sewed so i guess ill keep em for time being. However your right though about them being uncomfortable.

Yeah, so I think I will switch out seats but call the company and make sure that they will fit with the stock brackets. Or I will purchase them and figure out how to modify the stock brackets to support the seats.
