I have been using seafoam in heavy equipment engines for years and I have seen it make dramatic differences in performance and idle quality. I recently had a problem with low power from my 91 talon. It felt like the computer was removing timing. Normally what I do is find a secluded spot because you will smoke down your whole neighborhood. Start the engine and let it get up to opperating temp. I remove a vacum hose and put it in the can and rev the engine to about 2500 rpm and suck the can dry. Shut off the engine and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Then start it back up and run it down the road, and run it hard. This will remove a substantial amount of carbon build up from the combustion chambers. :thumb:

can you please post a pic up of the line you use off the brake booster??
and should i use the brake booster line or the PCV valve?

The pcv valve is a good spot if you want to target the valves, but it will not clean the whole IM very well.

What I do is use half a can from the brake booster then the other half on the pcv valve, finally I get some tb cleaner and clean the throttle plate...and your good to go.:thumb:

So I don't have access to a decent air compressor. I know I have boost leaks upon heaps of boost leaks. So my solution, SEAFOAM. That's right kids, it revealed every boost leak, and let me tell you. I had a ton after my car got recovered. It's leaking from the TB, somewhere on the turbo WTF, one of the ### stock intercooler pipes, you name it, it leaks. So while my car gets cleaned out and I fix my boost leaks I just wanted to share this ummm, rant I guess you could call it. Have a great day.:hellyeah:

What are you going to do once all the seafoam clears out and you want to check that you fixed all of the leaks completely though? Might want to get a compressor, or at least a tank that you can just refill.

How is that? I've seafoamed many times and it doesnt come out of the intake tract, it does come out of the exhaust and lights up exhaust leaks well.

My bad, I was thinking exhaust when I read it at first. NM, meds, lack of sleep, lack of food, and a pounding headache are starting to impair my abilities(reading comprehension mostly)...LOL

It does show your boost leaks. Or it did on mine  I do have a air tank but it wasn't full at the time. Besides I've been eccentric about everything related to my car since I got it back from the stinking thieves. Sorry about the erratic post. LOL

i just added about 3/4 can of seafoam to my crankcase and ran it and got no smoke. i then put the rest in through the vac line off the fpr and it only smoked for a few seconds. it did, however, foul the plug on #1 cylinder. is this anywhere close to normal?

It varies, but people usually get more smoke than that, mine smokes like a chimney all the while that I'm putting the seafoam in, and then it smokes for awhile after I shut if off and take it out and romp on it.

I work at a quick lube and i have never seen as much smoke as when we did a a dsm.. most cars puke a tiny bit of smoke, every time a dsm comes in we do the treatment out side for courtesy of the other customers

Woah guys keep in mind this removed ALOT of build up!!!!
When I did this to my 94 LT1 It fully clogged the cat on the car keep that in mind if your motor is very high mileage.

I still use sea foam on all 3 of my cars every 10k on the od

if you put a roughly half the can in the gas tank and then do the vaccum trick with the other half of the can it should smoke alot, we have done it to many cars and even little 1.5L hondas will smoke out a neighborhood but it is good and normal, and just to clear everything it will not hydrolock your engine it is a petroleum based product wich means it is combustible so it is basically like a high octane race fuel with some added cleaners, if it caused hydrolock seafoam would not be sold at every auto parts store nationwide, and yes seafoam works (if it is done right) if you put it in your oil it will not work because your are not burning enough of it quickley enough to loosen any carbon, and as far as your cat goes it should not damage the cat, because the foam is flammable so the extra that gets pushed through the cylinders (just like gas) will be ignited in the cat, you can sometimes hear it backfiring it is normal.:thumb:

Being combustible or not has nothing to do with hydrolocking. You could lock up an engine with enough gasoline. You also don't burn any seafoam that goes in the crank case. The seafoam that goes in the crank case is to loosen up any gunk that might be in your oil system that would impede flow.

You would get more smoke if you put more into your vacuum lines.

Did you do this cold? I've never had a cat clog up from doing a Seafoam cleaning, usually it cleans out the cat too.

Hell, I've gotten rid of CEL's for cat's below efficiency threshold by running Seafoam.

i tried seafoam today for the first time....... I couldnt stop laughing at my neighbours cause they just kept looking at me like ARE YOU F!@#ING CRAZY? LOL then i'd romp on the gas and they were like NOW I KNOW YOUR CRAZY...... gotta say though that it has improved the throttle response and feels like a new engine in the car...... :D

The check engine light went off because the battery died. Unless the issue is fixed it will come on again.
