i read the thread about this seafoam stuff. very interesting. i was wondering if someone could answer a couple questions. one i have a 93 talon dl. is it safe to use on the auto n/t? and which hose do i use?

Yes it's safe. I used the one going to my brake booster and poorer about 1/4 on the crankcase. I actually did it just yesterday. Amazing stuff. I ran the car pretty hard today for a bit, and even with 125k on it, the oil looks new still. Usually after an oil change you can start it, check the level and it's already dirty. Really impressed with the product. :thumb::thumb:

thanks. mines only got 63k so im hopeing it helps bring back a bit to the car ### it was sitting for a while before i bought it. anything i should worry about in doing it or is it pretty safe?

Seaform has many different applications. I'm assuming you are trying to use it in your intake to fix a idle surge since that is the most common.

If I am correct on this then if you use to much you can hydrolock your car.

Whatever you are going to use it for make sure you use it the exact way you are being told to by a RELIABLE source.

Also if you are using it to clear up a bad idle and it works you might as well just buy some gaskets and clean up everything for real.

the only thing you should worry about is succking too much in at once ### it will hydrolock but other than that it's pretty easy to use. it is however recommended to change your oil and spark plugs as it is well known for fouling plugs but still well worth it

I have used it with great results in the fuel and running it through a vacuum line. I have never used it in the oil though.

well ive already replaced some gaskets in the car while i was having the head gasket done. im just hopeing to get a little more power out of the car. its slow taking off. i know its a 1.8 but im hopeing it might make a little difference with the car being so old and sitting for so long. another thing maybe someone could help me out with is a rattle im getting. it sounds like its coming from right behind the front driver side tire. its like metal to metal. it only makes the noise when im accelerating at certain rates and when its just in park and i rev the engine near 3000rpms. but it doesnt do it in park up til 3000rpm and stops just after about 3500rpms. anyone know what this could be?

and i really appreciate the advise guys. this is pretty much my first car so im learning bit by bit.

Well the grinding could be your brake pads. When my rears were going it did that because it was down to that part of the pad. They have little metal ( I think it is metal anyway) parts that are designed to let you knowwhen they need replaced. If you dont it will damage your rotor. Another possiblity is that it is your axles but I think I'd check the brakes first.

I've watch people use it in brake boosters and hydrolock a car.

Why bother? If your engine made it this long, why wash away all the shit that's been built up in the engine if it's not harmful where it is.

Happy Hydrolocking!

Take my advice and dont use this product. I feel that It will make a idle surge or hard start problem WORSE.
I got wrapped up in the seafoam hype. i used it according to reccomendations, and i honestly feel it either works too well or just messes up your vehicle.
I used it on a jetski, 2 or 3 cars and after adding it, I feel it loosens up more gunk in the fuel delivery system and causes more of a breakdown of materials already in your gas and causes even worse problems. Plus, pouring something with the viscosity of water into my crankcase doesnt seem like the smartest thing to do, dont use this shit.
It sucks. and if your car is having some fuel issues, i believe this product makes the issues worse.
just my opinion. I have used it in a few vehicles and even my brother said, "that shit is messing the car up yo"
and hes right.
;)

Uhm... I've used it in countless vehicles through the Intake, with the car running a 2K and not ONCE have I had an issue? I'd, honestly, like to see a video of this stuff Hydro-locking a car. If so then I'm pretty sure that the labels all over the bottle that read "SAFE TO USE THROUGH INTAKE" would be false advertisement and you could have the company pay for your engine.

Just saying.

If you are pouring enough through a booster line that you are locking up the motor then I dont think you should be working on cars. Im not saying in no way that its the perfect chemical but if it was hurting cars and locking up motors the way people say they have HEARD not used, then its funny they have been around 80+ years and not either out of business or broke from paying for motors. Like I said before I have never used it in the oil but I have had great results in the fuel and feeding it directly in the intake.

i know there's a thread. i read it. but i had a question dude. an gusu thanks for answering that question. but i dont see how it could be my brakes. since it does it in park as well when reved. but i was looking at it earlier today and had my brother rev the engine so i could try to see where it was coming from. and it sounds like its coming from the catilatic converter. ive been around cars an garages a good portion and have never seen that before. anyone know what it could be?

I always use one of the venturi vacuum ports on the throttle body to suck of seafoam. That way it atomizes and has a chance to do something, instead of just sucking in large amounts of liquid from the brake booster port and sucking down the whole bottle in seconds. I still don't think that can hydrolock the car. You'd pretty much have to pour a whole can inside of the intake manifold with the car off, then start it for that to happen. I've only ever used it for cleaning carbon off the pistons, although I don't think it does much since it is just a once and done deal. It can't compare to a car with water injection every time it boosts. That's the kind of stuff that keeps pistons clean. Sucking a bottle of water into the engine should do the same thing as seafoam.

and theres really nothing wrong with my engine. besides that noise i mentioned above... but i just thought that since its 17 years old and has sat for a bit before i purchased it id clean it out a bit. sorta precaution. you know? but i dont have idle problems as far as i can tell. it stays at about 1500 at first start when its cold an once warmed up it stays about 1000. and its not really hard start. tuirns right over. with only 63k miles theres not much wrong. just the fact i thought id clean her up a bit

the heat shields already of the cat. another thing though, when i put it in overdrive the noise is either gone or really faint.
