just a quick question about seafoam. i just got done doing that to my eclipse. in through the intake mani, sit 15, drive around in the bond smoke screen car. it stopped smoking and i headed back to base to get to the hobby shop to switch up plugs and oil. the problem is they just closed because of the 4th of july scheldule. im curious if its cool to leave that stuff in the car overnight. ive read the posts and it says change oil right away, but is that if you wanna drive it? im just going to leave it sitting till 9in the morn tomorrow (when the hobby shop opens) and not drive it at all. is this going to be a problem?
thanks for the space

did you put it in your oil??? if not then just drive it. through the intake manifold would be no problem at all. I've used that product on numerous DSMs i've had already and have seen no ill effects. If you put it in your oil then i would suggest changing the oil. :thumb:

nah i put it in through the intake manifold hose like it said in the other seafoam post. so i should be good then. all right thanks for the quick reply now i can go get tanked to celbrate my 4 years of slaving for this country

you will be fine, but the plugs are partially fouled right now. as soon as it opens I would change them, or just go to a local auto parts store and get new plugs from them, and a cheap socket and ratchet.

Since you said you were headed to a base and the Hobby Shop I'm guessing Military. My unit kinda frowned on me from having a craftsman rollaway cabnet in my barracks room, so I know the pain of having to use your base Hobby Shop.

yeah im doing the military thing for another 2 weeks then its college time. yeah i read the earlier posts on seafoam and went out and bought ngk 6s. i got all the parts i just need to have a place to do all this. as far as car parts i got a few i gotta put on sitting in my wall locker. thanks for give me answers to questions i had right away.

^^cleans out carbon deposits.

and its not a super high priority to change out the plugs, but id do it whenever you get the chance.

i have half a bottle of the shit laying around, im thinking about shoving it through the dsm.

I've been here about a year and a half browsing this site at least a few times a week, if not every day and I've never heard of this seafoam stuff. so it's new to me too.

has anyone got a p0170 code after using seafoam? I have done some research on the this... fuel trim malufunction bank 1. I am assuming the o2 sensor didnt like the seafoam in the exaust. Has anyone else experienced this? thanks

It doesn't hurt your o2 sensors. your engine will definitely bog down if you use too much. Some probably made it through your engine somehow and got on your sensor. by now its burned off anyway. O2 sensors have a way of throwing strange codes sometimes randomly. Don't be too worried. If you have a logger just turn it off or find an autozone and take care of it there if you haven't already. Then see what happens after that. If the problem persists usually it will take anywhere from 10sec. to 10 miles to turn back on. Its an A/F ratio thing and you got some on the sensor causing it to read wrong. If your sensor goes bad it will let you know.

Hope that helps.
