I have been using seafoam in heavy equipment engines for years and I have seen it make dramatic differences in performance and idle quality. I recently had a problem with low power from my 91 talon. It felt like the computer was removing timing. Normally what I do is find a secluded spot because you will smoke down your whole neighborhood. Start the engine and let it get up to opperating temp. I remove a vacum hose and put it in the can and rev the engine to about 2500 rpm and suck the can dry. Shut off the engine and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Then start it back up and run it down the road, and run it hard. This will remove a substantial amount of carbon build up from the combustion chambers. :thumb:

Pour Seafom into you're plug holes! Hope you have the cash to rebuild that engine!
Instantly trashed rings! :notgood:

You're call in the end. WTF

People have poured it into the chamber to clean the top of the pistons. It then either flows over the pistons into the oil pan or people just suck it back out with a shop vac.

I have seafoamed and didn't need to change the plugs. You do need to change the oil though.

just take out the plugs and get a small rag soaked in seafoam and stick it down there with somethin and then twist it around to clean in side and the just pull it out. thats what worked fro mine....

Well i changed oil and plugs i didnt do the seafoam pistons though, just kinda forgot.

Its like its a diff car now.. LOL

Now i have a diff problem, before i changed the oil and plugs i didnt mess with boost level or anything.

After running the seafoam through the pcv and oil, changing the oil and plugs.
I got on it today and my freaking BOV BLEW off! .... so i put that back on (thinkin about just getting the bov welded to the pipeing.)

Then i was like i better not get on it until im close to my house, cause when the bov blew off i was by walmart so i had a easy pit stop & Fix.

Back to the second part of the story:
Driving down my road i hit boost again and my freaking bottem intercooler piping coming from my turbo BLEW OFF...... So im going to get some C Clamps insted of the ones i got on their now. Hoping this will solve the ic blowing off again.. im sort of afraid to get on my car right now cause i dont want to blow anything else off right now.

Is it true if u blow the ic piping off it fouls your plugs?? Just curious i was told by someone i know it does.
That would suck because their new! only 6$ for ngk bpr7e's.

Anyone else have this type of power come back after seafoaming and changing oil and plugs? iv never felt that power before.. im kinda freaked out on how fast my car is right now LOL!

Another know-it-all that really know's nothing..

Yes you can run sea foam down you cylinders.. Pour it in, let it sit over night and suck out the carbon and crap, re install plugs and start the car.

Hey, i read most of these posts and im defenitely going to sea foam my lipse. :thumb: just wondering if the vacum hose that i should use is the one that runs from the intake manifold to the head. and, do i just stick the end thats usually connected to the intake manifold in the can and let it suck it out, a little at a time of course. or maybe there is a diff. hose im missing, just let me know, thanks :dsm:fo life!! oh yeah forgot to say, its the 420 a engine, neon engine i know, but im making this b word fast!

i also just went and looked and i realized that i have no clue which hose to put it in, some help!!!
hey, just went and done it, got it through no prob what so ever, really easy, brake booster line all the way!

I used seafoam one my car today. So i did and now the car is acting all funny. When ever i press on the gas it vibrates alot. And the check engine light is on. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Which method did you use to apply the seafoam?

If you used the "suck through the intake" method, then you have to change your spark plugs and give your car an oil change ASAP.

As mentioned above, you definitely want to change your plugs and oil for sure. Next time, you will want to go lightly when sucking it through the vacuum lines.

Ok so i changed the spark plugs today, i turned the key and nothing it would even start, so my friend is like sounds like the batery, so i jumped it then it started, so that made me happy now all i got to do is change the oil and get a new batery possibly. O yea and the check engine light went of.

I live here in Okinawa, Japan, where it seems that nobody stocks Seafoam. And US/UK companies don't like shipping it here due to something called "safety regulations"! Am wondering if there is any alternative to using the seafoam. I read somewhere that 1 or 2 people just used water which had an effect. It wasn't as good as the Seafoam, but it helped somewhat.

You mean sucking water into through into the manifold? If you do is sparingly enough, you're essentially doing a water injection. It'll steam clean the manifold and combustion chamber.

hey guys. my friend recommended putting seafoam in my car to clean it out. So i put some in through the intake manifold, and some in the engine oil.

-when coasting in neutral it idles around 1500 rpm, and once i stop it goes back to the usual 900 rpm.
-it burns oil like crazy
-my car pops out clouds of smoke in first and second gears. and when i does so, it looses power.

can anyone PLEASE help me??????

There is 2 ports for seafoam. Your BOV port and the FPR port.
Not going into the reasons for each! there is a 15+ pagethread about it here..

If you inject it into the mani, either port.
Tip.. The hotter the engine is when you first start the process and the higher the RPM (limit 4k) the better it works!! Just Go slow and Don't hydrolock your engine!!! Useually takes me like 1 hour to completly suck a bottle dry...Pinch the hose with needle nose pliers!! (Dont stall the engine, but keep the flow slow and steady).
I like to do a small dose and turn off the engine, let it soak for like 10 mins. Then repeat Untill the bottle is dry, Just enough that I get a thick cloud of Steam, or what ever it maybe!
Get ready for the smoke screen, just beshure to use half can per port. And change the oil after, If your picky like most of us, change your plugs also!
The smoke screen Will go away after awhile. Takes mine like 30 mins of smooth idle changes from 2k to 3500...

If you put it in your oil, It will take quite a few oil changes to get it completly out of the system.. :) Get ready for some new oil leaks....

Just dont pour it into your tank, It will take ALONG time before its completly out and your back to full power... :notgood:

The sensors will be just fine. It's a great way to check for exhaust leaks as well.

Don't forget to take it out for a "spirited" drive before you change the oil. Some have driven a couple hundred miles before draining anything out. Read through that long thread. All your questions and conerns will be answered.

I put the stuff in my tank little over a year ago and saw no ill effects.
