I have been using seafoam in heavy equipment engines for years and I have seen it make dramatic differences in performance and idle quality. I recently had a problem with low power from my 91 talon. It felt like the computer was removing timing. Normally what I do is find a secluded spot because you will smoke down your whole neighborhood. Start the engine and let it get up to opperating temp. I remove a vacum hose and put it in the can and rev the engine to about 2500 rpm and suck the can dry. Shut off the engine and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Then start it back up and run it down the road, and run it hard. This will remove a substantial amount of carbon build up from the combustion chambers. :thumb:

Not that anyone will get this far in the thread ( ROFL ) but I have some before and after emissions with seafoam to get an idea of what it can do. Also I noticed I have a small hole some were after the turbo so I think that why i dint pass and I think the seafoam probably opened it up by getting the gunk out a tiny bit more.
cruise limit: 220
b4 seafoam 110 after 85 (wow) pass
idle limit 220
b4 seafoam 202 after 178 (wow) pass
Co% idle limet 1.2
b4 seafoam 1.09 after 1.07 pass
Co % cruise limit 1.2
b4 sefoam 2.3 after 2.22 FAIL

So it did do some good on the test! My car is running great now even with another problem I have yet to fix. Its very very fun to drive again.

I'm not a diesel expert, but that seems a little silly to me... especially when there is Turbo Diesel vehicles out there. How can an engine not produce vacuum?

They just dont, thats why they have vacuum pumps to run the power brakes. And if you'd notice, anybody who knows what they're doing tuning turbo diesels will have a boost (+) only gauge in the vehicle to read the boost. Because there just simply isnt vacuum in them, even with a turbo. The reasoning has more to do with the operating principal of the high compression. Atleast this is the case with these old IDI engines that I have for diesels. I dont know the pure operating principal of DI turbo diesel engines.
Anyway this is off topic, I only mentioned it because of the possibility of using a different product.

Funny I used Deep Creep. Emptied the whole can into the manifold that goes to the BOV and I barely had a smoke show. Drove around for less than 10 mins and it was all cleared up. I guess my engine is clean enough as it is? A thing I noticed is there's not visible puffs of smoke coming out the exhaust. I'm guessing it's burning a lot cleaner now.

so i just used the seafoam, smoked a lil bit, actualy a lot, started smoking from the engine bay, i found out that i had 2 hoses disconnected from my intake, so i reconnected them, hoping it would be the end of my idle problems...it wasnt. still idle surge.:notgood: but the car does drive a little bit better now. Nothin like OMG but its good. But i would recommend it to everyone.

the first time i used this in one of my cars i was not expecting as much smoke as there was and my neightbors came over thought something had caught fire LOL

I just used it on my car with 130K and it ran decent before, and now I would have to say I noticed a significant improvement. Thanks for the thread. I am glad I tried it.

Didn't do very much for my elantra. I used both the deep creep and the liquid stuff. There was tons of smoke but car didnt improve very much if at all.

What is the deep creep? I think I saw it in the store and it looked like a bolt loosener. (Kinda like WD40 or PBs) Did you put that in your engine?

Sea Foam--DEEP CREEP
Looks like it does it all :)

As for the reg seafoam...I just got done using it. I forgot about the puddle in the manifold effect and it freaked me out for a few minutes when it kept dying on my test drive.

Anyways, if you do this and your driveway slopes up (even slightly) you can get a puddle of this stuff in the bottom of your intake. Everything seemed fine, the smoke was rolling, the idle was crappy. I put 1/3 can in and turned the car off for 5 minutes. Went for a test drive and as soon as I slowed down for the stop sign on my street the car died and took about 3-4 minutes of cranking to start:(
Got it going again and decided to loop back to my house around the block...well as soon as I hit the downhill the car died again in gear. Got it started before the car rolled to a stop though. I ran it in the driveway for about another 10 minutes then did a few loops through the neighborhood. Seemed fine.

Checked the sparkplugs and they were all carbon fouled horribly. The porcelain looked like it was brushed stainlessWTF. Got those changed out and it seems fine now.

This was the really weird thing though...when it died in gear those few times there was ZERO resistance! It almost felt like I had just lost a timing belt and had zero compression. The clutch was engaged and I was in gear but there was no compression braking going on. ONce the car was started there did not seem to be any loss of power. Got any ideas?

Sea foam brought one cylinder up to the same compression as the other three on his 91 tsi. My car has even compression so I figure its not necessary yet.

Iv been using seafoam for awhile now through all my cars but theirs one thing iv never done.

Put it through the spark plugs, it says you can. Anyone every do it? And if so, whats it do and HOW do you do it. I'm going to do a whole tune up sat. Oil. Plugs, anything i can think of im going to.

Just pour some down the plug holes, let it sit overnight? Wake up take a shop vac and get the rest out? What if you dont have a small enough vac? Can you just stick a towel down their or something to absorb it?

Just some info would be nice!

Pour Seafom into you're plug holes! Hope you have the cash to rebuild that engine!
Instantly trashed rings! :notgood:

You're call in the end. WTF

I don't know. Depending on the condition of that motor. Sometimes its good not to clean out a motor, since its the deposits that still keep the motor running. Its a good idea to have them soak in for a night and then run it up the next day. After running seafoam in the cylinders, it is recommended to replace the oil and plugs. Seafoam in a NSX= Bad ROFL. We learned the hard way. Titanium piston don't like seafoam.

My bad... been a long day. YEA what I meant to say is Forged Piston on Titanium Rods.

Pistons have been chanced to ScienceofSpeed forged ones. comprssion now sits at 11.5:1. ROFL
