Hello,
I'd like to reinforce that I'm a newb and don't really know a lot.
I've noticed that when I start my car (97 eclipse gst, no mods, stick) up in the morning (like today) when it has rained, I hear a loud screeching noise from the front, which usually just stays for a little while (5-10 seconds) and then goes away. Usually it goes away by the time I've adjusted (CD in, get comfy, etc.) but once it kept doing it as I drove- so I stopped, turned it off, turned it on again, and everything was fine. Today, it rained the WHOLE day and did this high pitch sound only a few seconds in the morning, but tonight as I drove I heard a (much less loud) but still unusual sound from the engine. I opened it up, and there's some sort of squealing that's constantly going on. I'm thinking it's some sort of drivetrain or whatever, but it worries me. I wish I could describe it better. Also, I don't know if this relates at all (but please also explain this to me), when I turn the car on it'll idle at about 1,500 RPM, and after about 5 minutes, at a light or so, I notice it's back at around 800. Is this normal, just warming up? Also, the oil pressure gauge is usually at the bottom when I'm idling, and goes up as I drive-- but today, it was kinda in the middle the whole time, and once went up about 70% of the way. Are these problems related, are they problems (or just me) and what's the simplest/cheapest way of going about fixing this?
