Well this is my second intercooler kit from Slowboy racing, at first glance IF everything is included, is DAMN thats big! The intercooler its self is 24inches and include end tanks its about 32 inches. However like any other kit there is modifications that need to be done.
1.) You need a saws all to cut out the metal on the left side (passengers side) metal between your radiator and frame, being sure you dont cut the wire harness that hides behind!
2.) You NEED another overflow res. and somewhere to put it.
3.) The mounting brackets they put on NEVER line up (2 out of 2) i had to cut off and re-weld seems to be always one side or the other.
4.) The hood latch support must be broken free from there tack welds and either cut and welded on the inside support beam, or B.) hit it with a hammer until its flat. Then tuck the power steering coolant lines behind that brace.
5.) Cut out the drivers side wheel well cover, the pipes hit it just enough to make it not fit (you will see what I mean when you get there).
6.) Bumper supports must go, this includes the plastic bumper its self and the supports that hold the plastic piece in place.
7.) Between the headlights that hold the bumper cover onto the car also needs to be modified, there are 3 branches off from that that go onto the hood latch; these also must be cut off. You will need the upper part to hold the cover onto the car.
Once you complete these things you will notice this is one bad a$$ kit. It makes for all the trouble well worth it. The intercooler is as big as I will ever need and it is probably the biggest you will ever see on a 2g.
I do have pictures but unfortunately they are both good and bad. The good thing is that in the accident<--- (Bad) the intercooler was untouched! but the only pictures i have of the kit are when i crashed my car avoiding a deer! I would highly recommend this FMIC to anyone who is serious about making some power. The good thing about this kit is that the piping route is so short. Literally 2 pieces of piping and the TB elbow. I also bought the J-pipe because my other J pipe bent toward the passengers side and this one bends towards the drivers side. I myself didnt feel like messing around with the other one (lazy).
This brings up another point. When installing the J-pipe, it was very difficult! TONS and TONS of cutting! This ONE DAMN PIPE TOOK MORE TIME THEN BOTH INTERCOOLERS PUT TOGETHER! I dont think SBR ever tried installing one of these. Ok i see how they tighten ONE bolt but how they get to the other one is beyond me! I had to custom fabricated my own Allen wrench to get between the bend and then being able to tighten it. (<---nightmare!) I had to cut an Allen wrench then weld on a 25degree angle downward, then another 25degree angle upward to make for the 90 to tighten it up!
OK Enough b-atching...
Over all when all said and done, I love it! Thats why i got 2! Well I dont literally have two, I bought one and my car decided to blow a head gasket so instead I sold my 1st one (profit) to a friend and installed it. His was a lot simpler because of his 20G. The clamps were all there; piping was not polished but took us 10min to polish them and the core. I just simply loved this kit and bought another one. I hope you all agree.
