So i decided to just bite the bullet and switch to the saturn, Ive been running the Mitsubishi alternator and I think its on its way out. My question is if I need to wire the plug into a 12v constant or 12v switched power source. I thought the 1g didn't require you to wire it in to a switch source?

Back in 2008, when I went Saturn...

You can wire up everything you need at the "Alt Relay" in the 1G fuse block

You can hook up both the "L" & "F" terminals on the Saturn alternator directly to each of the wires going to the Alt Relay... No need for running additional wires through the firewall, or splicing them into any other 12v+ switched ignition source. -Just splice into them under the fuse block and run them both along with the 4AWG wire to the Saturn alternator (whether it's relocated or not).
Advantages? -Simple wiring & you don't have to do anything with the stock alt plug's wiring, other then Zip-Tie the plug out of the way.

NOTES: Alternator Relay harness (1G specific, under fuse block):
BLK/WHT: 12v+ Ignition to Saturn's "F" terminal
WHT: Battery lamp indicator to Saturn's "L" terminal
