OK......ive searched and im trying to find as much info about the APEX-i Super AFC II, a tuner wideband, and the DTEC thing you use on the gameboy. I have no idea which one would be better to get, easier to use, etc. For my first question...All of these are for tuning the air-fuel ratio, right? Which ones monitor stuff, and what stuff do they monitor? Which one is the best for what mods? What else do i need, to use one of these(gauges, sensors, etc.)?

One of my main reasons for trying to figure some of this out is that i want to be able to tune my car with out spending $1000 on a laptop and another $700 for the program. I also dont want to get some high performance parts for my car, have it lean out, and fry the engine. Whats my best solution(s) and why????? Or if there is a link that compares these please give it to me, any other info would be great too!!

Well first off the only thing in your list that will actually give you the abillity to tune your car is the SAFC. The other two things just give you the abillity to see information and not change it. The SAFC will show you some info but it is debatable as to how accurate those readings are.

My suggestion is to just purchase a SAFC II and some sort of logger if you just want basic tuning abillities. If you are going to do anything with your A/F then I highly suggest you either have a wide band or pyrometer because they will tell you accurately whether you are running too lean or too rich.

so if i buy the SAFC II i and a logger (what would be a good logger?) then i will be able to lightly tune my car. Will that tuning be good enough for a bigger turbo, injectors, etc. in the future? And to do something with my A/F i will need a wideband right? But doesnt a wideband just show the A/F?? so how would i be able to adjust it? Would i be able to adjust it with the SAFC II? Sorry for making this somewhat confusing, im tryin my best though!!

Yes with a SAFC you can make adjustments to your fuel. The logger is only needed because it gives you vital information about what your engine is doing. Basically a logger just translates what your engine is trying to tell you. Here is the place where I purchased mine from. http://www.dsmloggers.com/1gkit.html

Your stock o2 is a narrow band signal and therefor not completely accurate hence the need for a wideband. The AEM UEGO is the one I am currently running and it was the best investment I have made( saved my recent engine build). The wideband or the pryo will give you accurate info in regards to the current running of your engine but they alone can not make adjustments. Again they are just tools used to translate information your engine is trying to tell you.

Alright, so with the palm logger i can read all of this:
-RPM's
-O2 voltage (front and rear)
-timing advance
-long trim
-short trim
-airflow
-throttle position
-air temp
-coolant temp
-load
-MAP
-MPH
All of this is shown on the link that marc91gsx posted.

With the a wideband tuner, such as the AEM EUGO i will be able to read A/F ratios.

With the SAFC II what all will i be able to adjust?
-A/F ??
-timing ??
-low, mid, and high RPM's fuel levels ??
I think that i got most of the stuff that i asked about down pat, but i am just making sure and double checking because i dont want to go and spend the money for 3 different things and not be able to either use them, or properly tune them due to a lack of equipment. Is most of the info i just posted correct? Thanks for the help in guiding me through this!!

you can only adjust fuel with the safc (not really adjusting fuel but rather the airflow the ecu sees and adjust accordingly)

I use a Zeitronix wideband along with the APEX-i Super AFC II and it works great. Add up all the tuning time and you will be very happy. Alls you have to do is find a nice highway and your set for a decent price. Just my 0.02.. Goodluck!

I have an FPR and I want to know what is better to get a SAFC or a wideband? I have a FMIC, cat-back exhaust, and dn manifold. What is the better one for me to get? a SAFC or a wideband?:dsm: my car is a eclipse gsx
