I'm sure this type of question is asked a million times.

After installing my SAFCII,
I set the sensor to Karman, cylinders to 4 and I don't know what the throttle
should be? upwards arrow, downwards or **
also
when I look at the rpm reading it's way way off.
Keep in mind I haven't set anything really.
Oh, and the knock count hovers around 36 to 94 at IDLE
and while driving it reaches 150+ and the display for kock
stays at 0 depending on which display you're looking at.

I've been reading up on how to tune hi and low throttle etc,
starting to understand it a little bit I just don't have anyone to cruise with
to set the stuff.

Last thing is that there was a basic site with pictures on installing the SAFC
into an eclipse and it had a part 2 in basic tuning. Does anyone out there
have any helpful links with pictures?
I'm reading the manuals in the meantime.
Thanks!

I just printed out that exact page, checked on here to see if anyone replied.
LOL
cool, thanks. I think right now my only question is why the RPM
monitor isn't correct. Do I need to set something up first?
I't looks like a basic tach. I'm praying I didn't wire it wrong?
help?

I believe it says Rev. Not RPM. ? ugh.

It's now set @ 4cly with the up arrow.
The engine rev it displays is way lower then the RPM on the stock tach.
91 TSI AWD

Apparently the knock display is raw data, I can't get it to show
knock at all with the exception of the raw data display for knock which
fluctuates but hovers 20-30+, it won't let me change anything in the correction
section for knock, section 1 and 2 are at 0.

the default throttle correction is @ 10% low and 50% high.

EDIT: going to try the 2 cyl thing right now.

NICE! The 2 cyl thing fixed the rpm issue and that seems to have allowed me to mess with the knock correction settings. I set 1.) at 1500rpms and 2.) 3500rpms
I still don't show any knock count on the display, even after turning up the boost and hitting fuel cut when it hits ~18psi. It's nuts. I've seen people talk about a knock count while crusing and MY motor is over 130K miles old and it makes that famous lifter tapping sewing machine noise... so I'm finding it hard to believe theres 0 detonation. Then again... people are saying that even stock these cars run rich? People are getting knock when leaning it out and that's why? Just a little confused, while I post I'm reading... computers and networking came to me much easier then tuning so thank you, thank you dsmtuners :dsm:

I was under the impression the knock function on safc's 1or 2 cant read knock on a dsm 1G or 2G. which is why I just picked up a used blue screen safc for $140. You need a Palm based logger to read knock on a 1G but you cant read knock on a 2G w/out dsm link or standalone. search sourceforge.net for free MMCd pocket logger software for 1Gs but you will need to buy or make a cable from diagnostic port to the db9 side of the Palm hotsync cable.

1st gen will allow you to monitor knock, 2nd gens will not. You can use a datalogger to monitor knock on 1st/2nd gen, timing advance is direct relation to knock, so if timing is being pulled your knocking.

How are you guys mounting the safc-where are you guys mounting it :dsm:
There are plenty of thread on this. Please don't hijack this man's thread.

So... that's not good..
There IS a knock count on the SAFCII, I only get it when decelerating to a stop though.
While boosting WOT, no knock count...
I don't understand: "if your timing is being pulled you're kocking"

I've changed fuel correction and I'm not sure if more correction % is better
for example, at 4000 rpm @ WOT it will read somewhere in the neighborhood
of 99% correction.

The throttle points, is that refering to where Lo and Hi throttle are at?
or?

Ugh, I need a good noob link, I already read the RaceRoad stuff...
plus the features on the SAFCII are different enough to be confusing
when compairing to the SAFC. For example, the NE points start at 800rpm
and go to like 8K+ RPM.

Still trying to figure it out, it has been fun though. :thumb:
