S2000 Cluster Swap

Agreed, i dont find it outdated at all. If anything the stock cluster is outdated. LOL

Really? I think it looks like my old '94 Corvette dash. There aren't too many digital dashes around anymore. (With the exception of a badass one here and there such as LFA or Reventon, but even they have analog style readouts)

It was the main thing I hated about my S2000, right behind the garbage transmission and lack of power.

I think something that looks like these would be sweet, but more work and more expensive.

I still think the swap is a cool project, but the end result is a dash that I think is worse than stock. But then again I like the stock one for it's simplicity. Just my opinion.

Not to jack this thread, but I would agree that the S2K dash does resemble the 94 C4 Corvette's dash. I would know :p

The swap is not anything new it was completed years ago by some other members.

Yes but no one is actually documenting it.

I have no updates on this. I've been far to busy with life and other peoples projects plus doing home renos to even think about touching my DSM plus it's winter and it's buried under a foot of snow.

ehhh not a fan of the s2k cluster but still thumbs up for uniqueness and DIY

Been a while since I've updated this.
Car will be back on the road this summer, however the dash and S2000 cluster will be in the car by the end of April. I ordered the Tach Converter today and I'm trying to find somewhere local to get the Speedohealer as I don't want to pay shipping if possible.

Right now I'm working on enclosing the cluster, using the stock cluster bezel, some thin polycarbonate sheet, and epoxy. Once I get the basic shape I'll add some body filler to get it looking just the way I want and then I'll paint it black.

Did some more bondo work on the cluster bezel today.
Dash harness is pretty much done, need to hook up the inputs and outputs for the Speedohealer, ECT and Tach Converter but that will happen when the harness goes back in. The big red wire runs to my secondary fuse boxes.

Then I started laying down some filler, using the good stuff.

Second coat, more sanding tomorrow morning. Should hopefully be done then and I can paint it.

Wow absoutely amazing man. Cant wait to see the outcome of it, gotta love the s2000 gauge.

Well the bezel is done. It's not perfect but I can live with it for now. It was a fun experience to learn/try out.

My Autometer Tach adapter is here and my Speedohealer is on order so once those both get here I can finish wiring up the dash and put the wire harness back in the dashboard.

It's such a cool project and you've worked so hard on it, I'd hate to see you not go the extra mile and make that bezel piece a little more smooth

I'll likely do another bezel in a couple of months, maybe with CF this time instead of the polycarb.
I might even try some of that Di Noc CF vinyl.

Carbon fiber wrap? hmmm :hmm: now that's not such a bad idea

LOL, maybe I will send it out but we'll see. For now I'll live with it.

I was hoping my Speedohealer would have been here yesterday. It's coming from a place in Canada and it was Xpresspost so that's normally 2-3 days but no luck yet. Hopefully Monday. Once I get it I can finish wiring the dash and install the dash harness!! Can't wait, the end is almost in site!

Dash will be back in the car by April 30th.

I'm also not a fan of the s2000 but it looks great! Hope to see another video on the finished project soon.

In a couple weeks I hope. I'm 99% sure my Speedohealer was here today but I missed the post man so I gotta pick it up at the post office tomorrow after school.

I'm at the car next week and would replace it but I need a new wiring harness for my Pro Sport Oil Pressure Gauge (gauge to sender) and I don't want to start the car without a working oil pressure gauge. The replacement won't be here in time sadly.

I think you should run you boost, afr, oil and what not gauges in there as well it might look nice. This is what i was thinking(horrible ps i know, im tired and its more or less a quick skecth) It would all be molded clearly but you should be able to fit three guages in there and done right I think it would look really clean and kinda oem ish. Also they would be easy to see. Just a though:aha::thumb:

Regardless of what some may or may not think of the S2000 dash... It's ridiculous ideas that DSMers turn into reality that makes our cars and this site so much more interesting than those of other car enthusiasts. I was reading a post by someone who owned a non-DSM who said he comes on this site simply because of the cool shit we do to our cars and because (not naming names) their car people never did cool concepts like this.

Do that wiring schematic and post your pictures and when all said and done you will have something that virtually no one else has, and you left the bread crumbs for those DSMers who care to follow.
