While doing my 14b swao I decided to change out all the hardware (nuts, bolts etc) on my car because they are old and rusty and omse have broken off. Should I go to the dealer for these or is the local hardware store good enough?

Ok i got them, 85$ for everything from the dealer (ouch). I guess you have to pay if you want shit done right

I guess, but like Defiant sais all that matters is size and thread. If they had them at a hardware store then I would have bought them there. Just my opinion.

No, that's not what Defiant said. He said "grade", which is how good a quality the stuff is-- higher grades stand up to heat and stress better. You wouldn't want to put a 98-cent bolt in the exhaust manifold to hold your turbo on. It probably wouldn't last too long. In fact, a buddy of mine did exactly that just as a temporary measure until he could get to the dealer and buy the grade 8 (I think) bolt for the turbo, and when we took out the cheap Home Depot bolt after only a few days, it looked very unhappy.

Id rather have a peice of mind and go to the dealer. Especially since these nuts and bolts are going to take probably more "abuse" then any other hardware on the car because you have a great amount of pressure running thru the turbo, manifold, etc. also these bolts have to withstand VERY high tempartures. Id rather pay the 80$ instead of picking up my turbo and exhaust manifold up off the street.
