Just got done removing stock flywheel to upgrade. Getting those bolts off was tough, and I ended up stripping the last one very badly. If this ever happens to you, GET A BLOWTORCH. I heated the bolt for about 30 seconds, and it came off without a fight, even though it was in horrible shape. I cannot stress this enough, I was soooo happy when it broke loose. Heat works wonders on stuck bolts!!!!!!!

holy blowtorches in the engine bay batman!

Where the heck did you get that idea? and who told you it was safe? Aren't you worried you might have changed the shape of the tranny case as well?

Oh wait, you said taking the flywheel bolts off. I still dont think its a good idea, although it is somewhat intriguing. at first i thought you meant that you used the blowtorch to loosen a tranny case bolt for some reason.

I, too, have had great results by heating up bolts first by using a torch. They come right out after they're heated up nice and good. :thumb:

You got it. On most bolts, I do not think it will work. I think the only reason it works on the flywheel bolts is that loc-tite is used to apply them. The fire just kinda loosens the loc-tite up. Plus the torch is not TOO hot, its just the cheap $2 tank from wal-mart... the low heat stuff. Just 20 seconds is all it takes. I also was not reusing the flywheel so I wasn't worrying about that. I will have to be more careful if I ever have to take it off, aluminum is a little less tolerant of heat OMG

Anyway, this saved my night, I couldnt tell ya how bummed I was. The fidanza and 2600 are in and running as of an hour ago!

Well, I have to wait 500 miles before I can really find out, but I NEEDED it. My old clutch disc wore down to the metal rivet things that hold it together and had wore a deep groove all the way around the pressure plate.
